UPNVJ Senate Finalizes Three Rector Candidates, Prof. Anter Venus Receives the Strongest Support

EduAsiaNews, Jakarta – The Senate of Universitas Pembangunan Nasional “Veteran” Jakarta (UPNVJ) has officially finalized three candidates for the UPNVJ Rectorship for the 2026–2030 term following a vote conducted during a closed Senate meeting at the Nusantara 1 Meeting Room, UPNVJ Pondok Labu Campus, Jakarta, on Thursday (30 July 2026). Of the 34 votes cast by Senate members, candidate number 2, Prof. Dr. Drs. Anter Venus, M.A., Comm., secured 30 votes. The screening results will subsequently be submitted to the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology to proceed to the next stage of the rectorial election together with the Minister.

The other two candidates are candidate number 3, Prof. Dr. Drs. Abdul Halim, S.H., M.Ag., and candidate number 4, Prof. Dr. Memen Kustiawan, S.E., M.Si., M.H., Ak., CA., CPA., each receiving two votes.

The three nominees were then officially endorsed by UPNVJ Senate Chair Dr. Irsyaf Marsal, S.H., M.H. as the official rector candidates eligible to advance to the next stage of the 2026–2030 UPNVJ Rector Election.

The voting took place after the four prospective rector candidates had presented their vision, mission, and work programs at the Bhinneka Tunggal Ika Auditorium, UPNVJ Pondok Labu Campus, earlier that day. Prof. Anter Venus’s vision appeared to resonate strongly with Senate members, who expect UPNVJ to continue its institutional transformation and adapt to the evolving demands of the times. The forum provided each candidate with an opportunity to outline their policy direction, strategies for university development, and priority programs should they be entrusted with leading UPNVJ.

Based on the official vote count, the results were as follows:

  1. Candidate No. 1 – Dr. Sakroni, S.ST., M.Pd.: 0 votes;
  2. Candidate No. 2 – Prof. Dr. Drs. Anter Venus, M.A., Comm.: 30 votes;
  3. Candidate No. 3 – Prof. Dr. Drs. Abdul Halim, S.H., M.Ag.: 2 votes; and
  4. Candidate No. 4 – Prof. Dr. Memen Kustiawan, S.E., M.Si., M.H., Ak., CA., CPA.: 2 votes.

The voting results were formalized through a Senate resolution as the basis for determining the three official rector candidates. This stage forms part of the screening process to identify candidates with the leadership experience, institutional vision, and strategic programs required to meet UPNVJ’s future development needs.

With the completion of the Senate-level screening process, UPNVJ has officially concluded Stage I of the 2026–2030 Rector Election. The process will now proceed to the more strategic Stage II, which will be conducted by the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology. This phase will determine the rector-elect who will be entrusted with leading UPN Veteran Jakarta for the next four years.

The rectorial election is regarded as a strategic milestone in ensuring the continuity of UPNVJ’s academic and institutional transformation. The future rector is expected to strengthen the quality of education, research, community engagement, institutional governance, digital transformation, and the university’s reputation at both the national and international levels.

Through this election process, UPNVJ reaffirms its commitment to fostering leadership that is visionary, adaptive, innovative, ethical, accountable, and dedicated to advancing the quality of higher education.
