United Kingdom, working with UD-DUE
EduAsiaNews, Vietnam – University of Economics (UD-DUE) has strengthened and expanded its partnerships with domestic and international organizations, leveraging its potential and strengths in human resource training cooperation to meet the key workforce needs for the development of the Vietnam International Financial Center in Da Nang (VIFC-DN).
On September 16, 2026, UD-DUE held a working session with City St George’s, University of London, United Kingdom, to discuss fields and disciplines closely aligned with human resource needs and contribute to the development of the international financial ecosystem being promoted in Da Nang.
According to representatives from City St George’s, priority fields that are appropriate to Vietnam’s practical conditions in the new context include Financial Technology (FinTech), green finance, carbon markets, digital assets, and international financial services.
UD-DUE discusses cooperation needs
in developing training programs for VIFC-DN
Representatives of the two institutions proposed cooperation in developing short-term training programs to update knowledge and new technologies. In particular, an online training program on green finance and Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) could be launched in the near future. As an initial step, City St George’s proposed a plan to organize a Train-the-Trainer program, tentatively scheduled for mid-November 2026 in Hanoi.
The two sides also agreed to establish a working group to coordinate the development of an in-depth training program on climate and carbon markets. The partner institution will provide consultancy on international standards and experience in implementation on a global scale.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Doan Ngoc Phi Anh, Vice Rector of UD-DUE also proposed a cooperation model with City St George’s at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels through a 3+1 articulation pathway, creating opportunities for students to pursue a Master’s degree after three years of study, subject to meeting the relevant academic requirements.
Earlier, on September 10, 2026, UD-DUE also held a working session with TheCityUK, VIFC-DN, and the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment (CISI) to discuss cooperation opportunities in training, research, and human resource development for VIFC-DN.

According to Ms. Anna Rogers, Director of International Partnership Development at TheCityUK, a highly qualified workforce that meets international requirements and standards is a decisive factor in the sustainable development of VIFC-DN.
Representatives of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment (CISI) provided recommendations on developing a skills map for VIFC-DN based on models and human resource development experience from major international financial centers. The aim is to clearly identify priority job positions, competency groups, and professional certifications.

This will also provide a foundation for the parties to implement key cooperation activities in training closely aligned with practical requirements; develop programs integrating professional certifications with digital learning modules; and organize seminars for students in fields such as FinTech and digital assets.
By expanding and connecting its network of organizations, associations, and businesses in specialized fields, UD-DUE is ready to play a key role in training human resources to meet the development needs of VIFC-DN and the Free Trade Zone in Da Nang.
