EduAsiaNews, Jakarta – A lively atmosphere of literacy and enthusiasm for reading marked Ilkom Week 2026 with the launch of Warung Aksara, a literacy space carrying the theme “Living a Literate Life: Books • Stories • Millions of Meanings.” Held from Sept. 21 to 24, 2026, the event took place at Ubin Coklat, Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB), UPN “Veteran” Jakarta.
Warung Aksara provided students and members of the academic community with an opportunity to engage more closely with the world of literacy through a range of activities, including a book bazaar and reading corner. Visitors could explore a wide selection of books, discover quality reading materials and take time to read amid their academic activities.
The book bazaar featured several publishers and literacy communities, including Marjin Kiri, Patjarmerah and LP3ES, offering books covering a variety of themes and genres.
The event also drew the attention of UPN “Veteran” Jakarta Rector Prof. Dr. Anter Venus, M.A., Comm., who attended the event. During his visit, the rector toured the exhibition area, stopped at each book-bazaar booth and engaged in conversations with visitors and participating exhibitors.
Prof. Anter Venus expressed his appreciation for Warung Aksara as part of efforts to foster a culture of literacy in higher education.
“Warung Aksara provides a highly positive space for bringing students closer to books, ideas and knowledge. Literacy is not merely about the ability to read, but also about the ability to understand, think critically and process information in order to address various challenges in the future. I hope activities like this will continue to grow and become part of the culture at UPN Veteran Jakarta,” Prof. Anter Venus said.
Visitors’ enthusiasm was evident throughout the event. Beyond serving as a place to browse and purchase books, Warung Aksara also became a space for interaction and discussion, broadening participants’ perspectives and encouraging greater interest in reading among students.
Through the theme “Living a Literate Life,” Warung Aksara is expected to inspire members of the academic community to make reading part of their lifestyle while strengthening a culture of literacy on campus.
