EduAsiaNews, Jakarta — Universitas Pembangunan Nasional “Veteran” Jakarta (UPNVJ) Rector Prof. Dr. Anter Venus, M.A., Comm., attended the opening of Ilkom Week 2026 at UPNVJ’s Pondok Labu Campus in Jakarta on Monday (Sept. 21, 2026). Held from Sept. 21 to 24, the event provided a platform for students to showcase their creative works and research findings while bridging academic activities with communication and media practices. The rector’s presence reflected the university leadership’s support for the development of students’ creativity, research and competencies.
During his visit, Anter Venus praised the creative works and research findings presented by students at Ilkom Week 2026. He said platforms such as this were important in giving students opportunities to demonstrate the academic capabilities and creativity they had developed throughout their learning process.
Ilkom Week also expanded students’ learning experiences beyond the classroom through exhibitions, competitions and interaction among participants. These activities enabled students to introduce their ideas and research findings to a wider audience while receiving feedback from the academic community.
The main series of Ilkom Week 2026 was officially opened by FISIP UPNVJ Vice Dean for Academic Affairs Dr. Azwar, M.Si. In his remarks, Azwar emphasized the importance of strengthening the connection between theories learned by students in the classroom and practical experience through various academic and creative activities.
Ilkom Week 2026 also served as a collaborative platform for students in communication and information studies, as well as film, television and media. The event was organized by the Department of Communication Studies at FISIP UPNVJ, headed by Dr. Drina Intyaswati, M.Si.
Throughout the four-day event, members of the academic community and visitors could view various student works displayed at several locations across the Pondok Labu Campus. Plaza Wardiman hosted a Photography Exhibition and a Research Exhibition. The photography exhibition featured students’ visual works, while the research exhibition provided a platform for disseminating various research findings developed through their academic activities.
Meanwhile, a Book Bazaar was held at Ubin Coklat in the Faculty of Economics and Business as part of Ilkom Week 2026. The bazaar complemented the event by providing a variety of literature to support students’ learning and broaden their sources of reference.
Ilkom Week 2026 also provided an opportunity to recognize participants through the announcement of winners in various competition categories. By bringing together academic activities, research, creativity and competition in a single event, Ilkom Week is expected to encourage students to become more active in producing works relevant to developments in communication and media.
The rector’s presence at the opening of the Ilkom Week 2026 series also underscored the university’s commitment to providing opportunities for student development that integrate learning, research and creativity.
