EduAsiaNews, Jakarta – The Rector of Universitas Pembangunan Nasional “Veteran” Jakarta (UPNVJ), Prof. Dr. Anter Venus, M.A., Comm., welcomed Prof. Dr. Michael K. H. Ling from the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), at the UPNVJ Rector’s Meeting Room on Monday, 27 July 2026.
The meeting formed part of efforts to strengthen international academic relations while opening opportunities for collaboration in research, scientific publications, and human resource capacity development. Prof. Michael’s visit to UPNVJ was also associated with the Adjunct Professor Academic Series 2026, organized by the Faculty of Medicine, UPNVJ, on 27–28 July 2026.
During the meeting, the UPNVJ Rector and Prof. Michael emphasized the importance of developing academic partnerships that extend beyond seminars. Both institutions aim to expand their collaboration through joint research projects, collaborative grant proposal development, publications in internationally reputable journals, and the exchange of knowledge and expertise.
Prof. Anter Venus welcomed the distinguished academic from Universiti Putra Malaysia, describing the visit as a strategic opportunity for UPNVJ to expand its global network while enhancing the quality of its research and scientific publication activities.
For UPNVJ, the internationalization of higher education should be realized through programs that deliver measurable academic impact. The presence of a visiting professor is expected to encourage lecturers and researchers to build professional networks, undertake cross-border research collaborations, and produce scientific work that benefits society.
Prof. Michael specializes in developmental neurogenetics, neurogenetics, genomics, and bioinformatics. During his visit to UPNVJ, he participated in a series of academic activities focusing on organoid and stem cell technologies in regenerative medicine, research proposal development, scientific writing, and the application of polymerase chain reaction (PCR) technology.
Prof. Michael emphasized that international collaboration is a vital component of advancing health research. The growing complexity of healthcare challenges requires the involvement of researchers from diverse disciplines and institutions to ensure that research is methodologically robust and capable of generating broader societal impact.
Through direct engagement with international scholars, UPNVJ lecturers and researchers gained valuable opportunities to deepen their scientific knowledge, strengthen research methodologies, and develop competitive research ideas. The meeting also served as a platform to explore concrete forms of collaboration between UPNVJ and Universiti Putra Malaysia.
Following the meeting with the Rector, the Adjunct Professor Academic Series 2026 continued with a National Scientific Seminar entitled Introduction to Organoid Models and Stem Cell in Regenerative Medicine. Conducted in a hybrid format, the seminar brought together lecturers, researchers, healthcare professionals, and students from various institutions.
The first day’s program also featured a Writing Proposal Training session, providing lecturers with guidance on developing research ideas, identifying research novelty, systematically preparing grant proposals, and formulating strategies to secure national and international research funding.
On Tuesday, 28 July 2026, the program continued with a Review Article Writing Session and a PCR Masterclass. These sessions covered scientific manuscript development, primer design, conventional PCR, and real-time PCR applications in biomedical research.
The meeting between the UPNVJ Rector and Prof. Michael reaffirmed the University’s commitment to fostering an open, collaborative, and globally oriented academic ecosystem.
