EduAsiaNews, Jakarta – Universitas Pembangunan Nasional “Veteran” Jakarta (UPNVJ) has entered a new phase of its digital transformation with the soft launch of its Integrated Digital Services Ecosystem, held at the Bhinneka Tunggal Ika Auditorium on Friday (July 17, 2026). Organized by the Academic Support Unit for Information and Communication Technology (UPA TIK) under the theme “From Service Needs to an Integrated Digital Ecosystem,” the event marked a strategic milestone in UPNVJ’s efforts to establish a modern, interconnected, and technology-driven university governance system based on data and collaboration, paving the way toward becoming a Smart University.
UPNVJ Rector Prof. Dr. Anter Venus, M.A., Comm., emphasized that the event represented far more than the launch of new digital services or information systems. Rather, it marked the beginning of a new phase in UPNVJ’s digital transformation as an adaptive, innovative, and globally competitive higher education institution.
“Today, we are not merely launching several digital services. We are marking the beginning of a new phase in the digital transformation of Universitas Pembangunan Nasional ‘Veteran’ Jakarta. This transformation is a strategic initiative to develop UPN Veteran Jakarta into a more modern university—one that is adaptive to change and well prepared to meet the challenges of higher education in the digital era,” the Rector said.
According to Prof. Venus, digital transformation extends beyond the adoption of new technologies or digital tools. It also encompasses the way the university operates, delivers services, manages data, and makes decisions. Consequently, digital transformation must evolve into an organizational culture capable of responding to the dynamic demands of higher education.
He explained that the development of a Digital Campus serves as the foundation for achieving the vision of a Smart University. By integrating technology, data, users, and business processes, both academic and administrative services can become more interconnected, enabling university governance to be more effective, efficient, transparent, and accountable.
“A Smart University is one that optimally leverages technology, data, and innovation so that every policy is supported by accurate data, every service is seamlessly integrated, and every decision can be made more quickly, accurately, objectively, and accountably. Technology is no longer merely an administrative tool—it has become the primary driver of improved university governance,” he explained.
At the heart of this ecosystem is the OneUPNVJ concept, which serves as its guiding philosophy. The initiative integrates one portal, one identity, one data source, and multiple interconnected services to provide a seamless, efficient, and consistent user experience for the entire academic community.
Through the OneUPNVJ integration, data only needs to be entered once before being utilized across multiple interconnected systems. The integrated data can then be processed into strategic information to support university operations while strengthening evidence-based decision-making.
The integration is also expected to eliminate redundant data entry, streamline service delivery, and ensure data consistency across systems, allowing every university unit to rely on the same source of information for service provision and policy development.
UPNVJ’s digital transformation is further directed toward simplifying business processes, enhancing the quality of digital services, and promoting environmentally sustainable practices through a paperless working culture. In addition, the university recognizes data as a strategic institutional asset and is preparing to integrate artificial intelligence (AI) into the development of academic and administrative services.
Prof. Venus stressed that the success of this transformation will depend not only on advanced technology and robust infrastructure but also on the readiness of human resources to embrace new ways of working, strengthen digital competencies, and foster collaboration across organizational units.
“Digital transformation is not the responsibility of a single unit, nor is it solely the responsibility of the Information and Communication Technology Support Unit. It is a strategic agenda for the entire university that requires collaboration, synergy, and commitment from all members of the academic community. Its success depends on our willingness to embrace change, collaborate, and continuously innovate,” he affirmed.
On the same occasion, Asep Saeful Ridwan, S.Kom., Head of UPA TIK, explained that the integrated digital services ecosystem introduced during the soft launch has been developed progressively since 2025. Its development has included mapping service requirements, aligning business processes, strengthening IT infrastructure, enhancing information security, and integrating various systems across the university.
According to Asep, UPNVJ is not simply developing new applications but is establishing a comprehensive digital ecosystem that connects applications, data, users, and business processes. This foundation is designed to ensure that university services become more accessible, efficient, transparent, and supported by consistent, reliable data.
The Rector concluded that the soft launch marks the beginning of UPNVJ’s long-term journey toward becoming a future-ready university. Continuous implementation, evaluation, security enhancement, and service innovation will be essential to ensuring that the digital ecosystem delivers tangible benefits to students, faculty members, administrative staff, and all stakeholders.
“What we are launching today is not merely a digital services ecosystem, but a new work culture, a new mindset, and a new future for UPN Veteran Jakarta. With a spirit of collaboration and mutual cooperation, I am confident that UPN Veteran Jakarta will continue its transformation from a Digital Campus into a Smart University—one that excels in service delivery, embraces data-driven decision-making, adapts to technological advancements, and makes meaningful contributions to the advancement of higher education in Indonesia,” he concluded.(www.upnvj.ac.id)
