
EduAsiaNews, Jimbaran – Udayana University officially launched Gemini Academy Udayana University 2026 on Thursday (July 16, 2026) through a virtual event held via Google Meet. The program is a collaboration between Udayana University and Google for Education, aimed at strengthening the capabilities of the university’s academic community in utilizing Artificial Intelligence (AI) to support education, research, community service, and higher education governance.
The program is organized by the Bureau of Academic Affairs, Cooperation, and Public Relations (BAKH) in collaboration with the Information Resources Unit (USDI) and the AI Center of Udayana University. Gemini Academy forms part of the university’s commitment to accelerating digital transformation through the responsible and ethical application of AI technologies.
In his report, Ir. Komang Oka Saputra, S.T., M.T., Ph.D., Head of the Data and Network Division at USDI Udayana University, explained that AI implementation at the university has been supported by Google Workspace for Education Plus, which has been in use since 2022. Through this platform, members of the academic community have access to AI-powered tools, including Gemini AI and NotebookLM, to enhance the effectiveness of teaching, learning, and administrative processes.
The program was officially inaugurated by Rector Prof. Ir. I Ketut Sudarsana, S.T., Ph.D. In his opening remarks, the Rector emphasized that proficiency in AI technologies has become an essential competency for higher education institutions in responding to the rapidly evolving educational landscape.
“The advancement of AI has transformed the way we access information, process data, generate knowledge, and make decisions. Udayana University views AI proficiency not merely as an additional skill, but as a core competency that should be possessed by every member of the academic community. Students need it to strengthen their learning process, lecturers to support the implementation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, and administrative staff to enhance the effectiveness of institutional governance,” the Rector said.
He also emphasized that AI must always be utilized in accordance with the principles of integrity, academic ethics, and responsible use to ensure that it delivers optimal benefits to higher education.
Gemini Academy Udayana University 2026 will be conducted in phases from July through December 2026, comprising four training sessions organized according to faculty and administrative unit clusters. The program is designed for three participant groups: faculty members, administrative staff, and students. Training sessions for faculty and staff will be held every Thursday, while student sessions are scheduled every Friday.
The inaugural session involved participants from the Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Faculty of Agriculture, Faculty of Agricultural Technology, Faculty of Animal Science, Faculty of Marine Affairs and Fisheries, and the Pharmacy Study Program within the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences.
In addition to receiving instruction directly from Google for Education facilitators, participants will have the opportunity to pursue Gemini AI certification, take part in Weekly Challenges and Monthly Challenges with various awards, and qualify for roles as Gemini Academy Master Trainers for students or Gemini Academy Fellows/Faculty Ambassadors for faculty members and administrative staff.
Through the implementation of Gemini Academy 2026, Udayana University aims to develop human resources that are adaptable to advances in digital technology and capable of serving as agents of transformation within their respective faculties and administrative units. The program also reinforces the university’s commitment to advancing innovative learning and institutional governance that remain responsive to technological developments in the era of artificial intelligence.
