EduAsiaNews, Jakarta – The Faculty of Medicine of Universitas Pembangunan Nasional “Veteran” Jakarta (FK UPNVJ) organized the Adjunct Professor Academic Series 2026, featuring Prof. Dr. Michael K. H. Ling from the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, Universiti Putra Malaysia. Held on 27–28 July 2026, the program was designed to strengthen faculty capacity in research, international scientific publication, and cross-border academic collaboration.
The first day of the program commenced with a National Scientific Seminar titled Introduction to Organoid Models and Stem Cell in Regenerative Medicine. Conducted in a hybrid format, the seminar brought together lecturers, researchers, healthcare professionals, and students from various institutions.
The seminar explored recent advances in stem cell and organoid technologies as strategic fields in regenerative medicine. These technologies provide researchers with innovative models for studying tissue development, disease mechanisms, and potential therapeutic approaches that more closely replicate human biological systems.
Prof. Michael shared his expertise and research experience in developmental neurogenetics, neurogenetics, genomics, and bioinformatics. He emphasized the importance of robust research methodologies and interdisciplinary collaboration in producing high-quality health research.
“Organoid and stem cell technologies offer tremendous opportunities for researchers to better understand disease development and develop more precise therapeutic approaches. However, their application must be supported by strong research design, methodological expertise, and multidisciplinary collaboration,” said Prof. Michael.
He further noted that the academic engagement should extend beyond knowledge exchange and evolve into tangible collaborations in research proposal development, joint research projects, and publications in internationally reputable scientific journals.
“International collaboration is essential because today’s healthcare challenges are increasingly complex and cannot be addressed by a single discipline or institution. I hope this program will lead to joint research proposals, scientific publications, and research that makes meaningful contributions to medical science and healthcare services,” he added.
Following the seminar, participants attended a Writing Proposal Training session designed to enhance lecturers’ capacity to develop competitive research proposals for both national and international funding schemes.
The training provided comprehensive guidance covering research idea development, identification of research novelty, formulation of objectives, and strategies for securing research funding. The initiative is expected to produce research proposals that are not only academically rigorous but also relevant to societal needs and advancements in health sciences.
The Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at UPNVJ stated that the Adjunct Professor Academic Series reflects the faculty’s commitment to enhancing human resource quality in research and scientific publication.
“Through the participation of our visiting professor from Universiti Putra Malaysia, we expect our lecturers to gain new insights, strengthen international collaborative networks, and improve the productivity of high-quality research and publications. This program also represents a concrete step toward the internationalization of the Faculty of Medicine at UPNVJ,” the Dean said.
The program extends beyond knowledge transfer by aiming to produce research proposals ready for grant submission and scientific manuscripts suitable for publication in reputable journals. It also creates opportunities for establishing sustainable research collaboration between FK UPNVJ and Universiti Putra Malaysia.
The Adjunct Professor Academic Series 2026 continued on Tuesday, 28 July 2026, with a Review Article Writing Session, during which selected participants received intensive mentoring to improve the quality of their scientific manuscripts.
The program also featured a PCR Masterclass, covering primer design, conventional polymerase chain reaction (PCR), and real-time PCR applications. The class was intended to further strengthen the technical competencies of lecturers and researchers in conducting accurate, internationally standardized biomedical research.
Through the Adjunct Professor Academic Series 2026, FK UPNVJ continues to foster an innovative, productive, and collaborative academic ecosystem.
