EduAsiaNews, Jakarta – The Faculty of Law of Universitas Pembangunan Nasional “Veteran” Jakarta (FH UPNVJ), in collaboration with the Executive Board of the Indonesian Advocates Association (DPP IKADIN) and the West Jakarta Branch of the Indonesian Advocates Association (DPC PERADI), officially launched the 10th Batch of the Special Advocate Professional Education Program (PKPA) at Grand Slipi Tower, Jakarta, on Friday, July 24, 2026.
Held in a hybrid format, the program attracted participants from various regions across Indonesia. The initiative reflects the shared commitment of the three institutions to preparing future advocates who are professional, ethical, and committed to upholding the highest standards of integrity.
The opening ceremony was attended by prominent legal figures and practitioners, including Rivai Kusumanegara, Genesius Anugerah, Nur Cholis, Abdul Kholiq, S.H., M.H., Vice Dean for Student Affairs, Alumni, and Cooperation at FH UPNVJ, and Dr. Suherman, S.H., LL.M., Dean of FH UPNVJ. Suhendra Asido Hutabarat joined the event virtually and officially inaugurated the program.
In his remarks, Dean Dr. Suherman expressed his appreciation for the continued trust placed in FH UPNVJ by DPP IKADIN and DPC PERADI West Jakarta as a partner in organizing the PKPA. He emphasized that collaboration between higher education institutions and professional organizations plays a strategic role in producing highly qualified legal professionals.
He stressed that advocates must possess not only a strong command of legal principles and litigation skills but also moral integrity, professional independence, and a deep commitment to justice.
“The PKPA is more than technical training—it is a process of character formation. A true advocate is not only skilled in legal argumentation but also guided by a genuine sense of justice,” Dr. Suherman said.
He encouraged all participants to fully engage in the program so they can become competent legal professionals who are adaptable to the evolving legal landscape and capable of contributing to the advancement of the rule of law in Indonesia.
Rivai Kusumanegara reminded participants that the legal profession represents a form of service to the nation. In an era of digital transformation and rapidly evolving regulations, he said, aspiring advocates must cultivate critical thinking, understand social dynamics, and continuously enhance their professional competencies.
“Being an advocate is not merely a profession but also a public service. PKPA participants are the next generation who will shape the future of law enforcement in Indonesia,” he stated.
Meanwhile, Nur Cholis highlighted the importance of building a professional reputation through consistency, integrity, and respect for both clients and fellow practitioners. He encouraged participants to use the PKPA as an opportunity to broaden their perspectives, engage with academics and legal practitioners, and expand their professional networks.
Genesius Anugerah added that solidarity among advocates is one of the cornerstones of maintaining the dignity of the legal profession. He emphasized that advocates must uphold honesty, adhere to the professional code of ethics, and avoid actions that could undermine public trust.
“Advocates should support one another rather than undermine each other. This profession demands solidarity, ethical conduct, and the highest standards of integrity,” he said.
Officially opening the program via Zoom, Suhendra Asido Hutabarat described the PKPA as a fundamental stage in equipping aspiring advocates with legal competence, professionalism, integrity, and ethical values.
He also praised the collaboration among DPP IKADIN, DPC PERADI West Jakarta, and FH UPNVJ in fostering a high-quality legal professional education ecosystem. Participants, he noted, should view the PKPA not only as a platform for developing legal expertise but also as a process of character building as future officers of the court.
Throughout the program, participants will receive instruction from academics, legal practitioners, and senior advocates. The curriculum covers procedural law, professional ethics, litigation and alternative dispute resolution techniques, legal drafting, and practical legal service skills.
Through the 10th Batch of the PKPA, FH UPNVJ reaffirmed its commitment to producing advocates who are competent, professional, and ethically grounded. The university also expressed its hope that its collaboration with DPP IKADIN and DPC PERADI West Jakarta will continue to strengthen legal professional education and contribute to the delivery of fair and accessible legal services for the public.
