EduAsiaNews, Jakarta — Universitas Pembangunan Nasional “Veteran” Jakarta (UPNVJ), in collaboration with the People’s Consultative Assembly of the Republic of Indonesia (MPR RI) and Resonansi, organized the National Seminar on National Insight and the Socialization of the Four Pillars of the MPR RI at the Bhinneka Tunggal Ika Auditorium on Tuesday (July 14, 2026). The event, attended by approximately 250 participants comprising members of the academic community and student representatives, aimed to strengthen both the understanding and practical implementation of Indonesia’s national values within the higher education environment.
UPNVJ Rector Prof. Dr. Anter Venus, M.A., Comm., emphasized that the values embodied in the Four Pillars of the MPR RI must be internalized and practiced as the foundation of social, national, and civic life.
“The song we sang together reflects the values of the Four Pillars that form the foundation of our nation. The socialization of the Four Pillars should serve as a meaningful platform for truly living out those values,” Prof. Venus said during his opening remarks.
He further stressed that strengthening national identity has become increasingly important amid globalization and the internationalization of higher education. According to him, progress and openness to the global community must go hand in hand with a firm commitment to preserving Indonesia’s unity.
“In this era of internationalization, our nation will remain strong if we consistently uphold unity and firmly believe that the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI) is non-negotiable. We hope that today’s distinguished speakers will further strengthen our commitment to implementing these values in our daily lives,” he said.
The Secretary of the Golkar Party Faction in the MPR RI, Ferdiansyah, S.E., M.M., delivered a presentation on the Four Pillars of the MPR RI, comprising Pancasila, the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia, the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI), and Bhinneka Tunggal Ika (Unity in Diversity).
Ferdiansyah emphasized that understanding these four pillars must be translated into concrete action. He noted that implementing national values is essential for safeguarding national unity, strengthening national character, and responding effectively to ongoing social change.
Meanwhile, the Chair of the Golkar Party Faction in the House of Representatives (DPR RI), M. Sarmuji, S.E., M.Si., served as the keynote speaker, presenting a lecture titled “Pancasila Should Not Merely Be Introduced, but Cultivated.”
In his presentation, Sarmuji stressed that Pancasila cannot be promoted solely through socialization programs. Instead, its values must be continuously nurtured through exemplary leadership and their consistent application in everyday social, national, and civic life.
The national seminar forms part of UPNVJ’s ongoing commitment as the State Defense Campus (Kampus Bela Negara) to strengthening the national character of its academic community.
Through education, dialogue, and exemplary leadership, UPNVJ seeks to equip its students to engage confidently with global developments while preserving their national identity, unity, and responsibility as citizens of Indonesia. (www.upnvj.ac.id)
