EduAsiaNews, Jakarta — Universitas Negeri Jakarta (UNJ) held a Workshop on Strengthening the Administrative and Substantive Requirements for Faculty Academic Rank Promotion (JAD) Proposals on 31 July–1 August 2026 at Novotel Pulomas, Jakarta. The workshop forms part of UNJ’s efforts to improve the quality of academic promotion submissions, particularly for the Associate Professor (Lektor Kepala) and Professor (Guru Besar) ranks, while providing guidance for faculty members revising their current applications and preparing proposals for the next submission cycle.
In his opening remarks, Agus Purwadi, Director of Human Resources at UNJ, explained that the workshop was organized in response to the university leadership’s evaluation of the first wave of JAD submissions. During that round, UNJ nominated three candidates for Professor and 32 candidates for Associate Professor. Of the three Professor nominations, two received recommendations, while one requires revisions. Meanwhile, nine of the 32 Associate Professor applications were recommended, with the remaining proposals requiring improvements based on the evaluation results.
“Through the Directorate of Human Resources, UNJ is facilitating the revision process with technical support from the PDDIKTI and SISTER data management teams. Strengthening the quality of JAD proposals is also an important step in preparing UNJ for future institutional accreditation,” Agus Purwadi said.
Based on projections by the Directorate of Human Resources, UNJ still requires approximately 23 additional faculty members at the Associate Professor and Professor levels to meet its targeted academic rank composition.
The workshop featured sessions led by senior academics and officials from the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology, focusing on evaluation findings, administrative requirements, academic expertise consistency, publication quality, supporting documentation, and academic integrity. Participants also received detailed guidance on responding to reviewers’ feedback, strengthening research portfolios, and ensuring alignment between data recorded in SISTER and the official promotion documents.
UNJ expects the workshop to enhance the overall quality of future JAD submissions by improving administrative accuracy, strengthening academic expertise, increasing publication quality, ensuring comprehensive supporting evidence, and upholding academic integrity. The initiative reflects the university’s commitment to advancing faculty career development while enhancing institutional competitiveness and human resource excellence.
