EduAsiaNews, Bandar Lampung – The sixth graduation ceremony of Universitas Lampung (Unila) for the 2025/2026 Academic Year was marked by a deeply emotional moment. One of the graduates from the Bachelor’s Program in Physical Education, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP), Muhammad Indra Gunawan, was officially declared to have fulfilled all academic requirements and was posthumously awarded a bachelor’s degree.
Indra graduated with a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.43, completing his studies in 3.63 years. During the graduation ceremony, his diploma and graduation award plaque were received by his father and mother, who attended the event on behalf of the family.
The diploma was presented directly by the Rector of Universitas Lampung, Prof. Dr. Ir. Lusmeilia Afriani, D.E.A., IPM., ASEAN Eng. The solemn ceremony served as a tribute to Indra’s academic journey, dedication, and achievements throughout his years of study at Unila.
The Rector also offered prayers that the late Muhammad Indra Gunawan would be granted the highest place in the grace of Allah SWT. She expressed the hope that the knowledge he acquired during his studies would continue to serve as a lasting charitable legacy (amal jariah) and benefit others.
Indra’s father, Serhan, expressed his pride in his son’s dedication to learning throughout his time at Unila. He described Indra as a disciplined, diligent, and highly committed individual who was determined to complete his education.
“He was always devoted to his studies, never idle, and consistently worked hard to complete his education,” Serhan said.
He also shared that, prior to his passing, Indra had been offered the opportunity to serve as a teacher in Way Kanan Regency. The family had planned for him to participate in the graduation ceremony before beginning his teaching career. However, those plans could not be realized as fate had determined otherwise.
For Serhan, his son’s successful completion of his studies and the conferral of a bachelor’s degree will remain a lasting source of pride for the family. The presentation of the diploma to Indra’s family reflected Unila’s respect and appreciation for his dedication and perseverance in completing his academic journey.
The poignant moment also served as a reminder that every effort devoted to education carries enduring meaning. It is hoped that Indra’s story will inspire members of the academic community to continue pursuing knowledge, striving for excellence, and dedicating their expertise to the service of society.
