EduAsiaNews, Banjarmasin – Universitas Lambung Mangkurat (ULM) conducted the assessment for the 2026 Computer-Based Independent Written Examination (UTMBK) through the Tahfiz admission pathway as a form of affirmative admission for prospective students who have demonstrated proficiency in memorizing the Holy Quran.
A total of 64 applicants in the Tahfiz pathway gathered in the Wasaka 1 Hall at the ULM Rectorate Building on Wednesday (July 1, 2026), where they were assessed directly by a panel of four evaluators: H. Muhammad Rusli Tulamak, S.Pd.I., Gr., Akhmad Fikli, S.Pd., M.Ag., Dr. Rusdiansyah, M.Pd.I., and Akhmad Gazali, S.H.
ULM Vice Rector for Academic Affairs, Dr. Iwan Aflanie, dr., M.Kes., Sp.F., S.H., explained that the final results of the Tahfiz admission pathway are determined through a combination of the applicants’ UTMBK scores and the evaluation of their Quran memorization proficiency. He added that ULM is committed not only to selecting academically outstanding students but also to nurturing individuals with strong character and integrity.
“We seek talented young individuals who possess not only strong academic capabilities but also exemplary character. We hope that students admitted through the Tahfiz pathway will continue to preserve and strengthen their Quran memorization, further develop their abilities, and achieve accomplishments that bring pride to ULM,” he stated.
One of the applicants’ parents, Edi Suryanto, expressed both gratitude and nervousness while accompanying his daughter throughout the selection process. He shared that pursuing higher education at ULM had been a long-standing aspiration for their family.
“It is a very tense moment. This has been our dream for a long time. My daughter has studied at an Islamic boarding school specializing in Tahfiz education for the past seven years. God willing, with the blessings of Allah SWT, she will be admitted to ULM’s Faculty of Medicine,” he said.
Through the Tahfiz admission pathway, ULM continues to demonstrate its commitment to providing broader opportunities for high-achieving prospective students. The University hopes that graduates admitted through this pathway will become individuals of excellence and integrity who make meaningful contributions to society and national development.
