EduAsiaNews, Merawang – Universitas Bangka Belitung (UBB) conducted the final stage of its 2026 Independent Admission under the Regional Outstanding Talent (Talenta Unggul Daerah/TUD) Scheme through academic examinations, portfolio assessments, interviews, and performance evaluations at the Main Hall of the UBB Rectorate on Tuesday (June 23, 2026).
The selection process reflects UBB’s commitment to providing outstanding prospective students with greater opportunities to pursue higher education through a special admission pathway that emphasizes participants’ achievements and potential. Unlike the regular admission process, applicants under the Regional Outstanding Talent Scheme are assessed not only on their academic performance but also on their achievement portfolios, interviews, and demonstrated competencies according to their respective categories of excellence.
This year, 34 prospective students applied through the Regional Outstanding Talent Scheme. Following the administrative verification process, 12 applicants met the eligibility requirements, while 11 candidates proceeded to participate in the complete selection process.
The selection began with an academic examination, followed by portfolio assessments and interviews. Applicants in the Quran Memorizer (Hafiz Al-Quran) category subsequently underwent a performance assessment involving the recitation and verification of their Quran memorization. Of the 11 candidates participating in the final selection, six were from the Hafiz Al-Quran category, while the remaining five were applicants with achievements at the national level. These assessment stages were designed to verify the authenticity of applicants’ achievement documents while ensuring that their competencies and potential corresponded to the selected category.
Under the Regional Outstanding Talent Scheme, each applicant is allowed to select up to three study programs based on their interests and potential. For applicants to the Medical Study Program, only academic achievements and the Hafiz Al-Quran category are recognized, with a minimum requirement of memorizing 10 juz of the Quran. Meanwhile, applicants applying to study programs other than Medicine under the Hafiz Al-Quran category are required to have memorized at least five juz, in addition to meeting the applicable academic or non-academic achievement requirements stipulated by the selection process.
The portfolio assessments and interviews were conducted by an evaluation panel comprising members of the university leadership, faculty representatives, and academic staff with relevant expertise. Meanwhile, the Hafiz Al-Quran performance assessment was administered to verify that applicants’ memorization abilities corresponded with the documentation submitted during the application process.
Through the Regional Outstanding Talent Scheme, Universitas Bangka Belitung continues to expand access to higher education while recognizing outstanding young talents with exceptional academic and non-academic achievements. The program is expected to attract prospective students who not only demonstrate academic excellence but also possess strong character, integrity, and the potential to thrive throughout their academic journey at Universitas Bangka Belitung.
Following the completion of the Regional Outstanding Talent admission process, Universitas Bangka Belitung will reopen admissions through the UBB Independent Entrance Examination. This pathway provides an opportunity for graduates of senior high schools, vocational high schools, Islamic senior high schools, or their equivalent who have not previously participated in or successfully passed earlier admission pathways to pursue higher education at UBB through the university’s entrance examination. Prospective applicants are encouraged to regularly monitor official information regarding the admission schedule, eligibility requirements, and registration procedures through the UBB Admissions website and the university’s official social media platforms to ensure they do not miss the upcoming stages of the admission process.
