EduAsiaNews, Bangka — Universitas Bangka Belitung (UBB) officially opened its 2026 Campus Life Orientation Program for New Students (Pengenalan Kehidupan Kampus bagi Mahasiswa Baru or PKKMB) on Monday (August 10, 2026), at the UBB Integrated Campus in Balunijuk. A total of 2,905 new students were admitted to UBB for the 2026/2027 academic year, with 2,849 students participating in the PKKMB program.
Carrying the theme “Growing, Building Character, Making an Impact,” PKKMB 2026 marks the beginning of the new students’ university journey, introducing them to campus life while preparing them for their academic studies, character development, and personal growth so they can contribute meaningfully to society and the nation.
The program was officially opened by UBB Rector Prof. Dr. Ibrahim, M.Si. In his address, the Rector said the arrival of new students from diverse backgrounds represents a source of new energy for UBB. He encouraged them to use their university years to develop strategies, formulate plans, and set clear goals for achieving success.
“A total of 2,905 students, comprising Diploma, undergraduate, master’s, and international students, are embarking on a new era, with new dreams, new enthusiasm, and new energy. Today marks their transformation from high school students into university students wearing UBB’s blue almamater jackets,” Prof. Ibrahim said.
He noted that the new students come from different backgrounds and regions and bring their own aspirations and dreams. Yet these differences are united by a shared identity and spirit as students of UBB.
“You come from different backgrounds and regions, with different aspirations and dreams. All of these are brought together by one shared identity: being students of Universitas Bangka Belitung. You carry the hopes of your families and dreams of building a better future,” he said.
The Rector therefore encouraged the new students to begin developing strategies, plans, and targets for their university years. According to him, a rapidly changing world requires young people to adapt and continuously develop their capabilities.
“The world is changing rapidly. Therefore, we must be able to adapt, become smart, creative, and innovative so that you can eventually become winners in the competition of life,” he said.
He added that university life provides students with broad opportunities to develop their abilities through academic activities as well as student organizations and extracurricular programs. New students were therefore encouraged not only to pursue academic achievement, but also to gain experience, expand their networks, develop leadership skills, build collaborations, and strengthen their concern for the environment and society.
PKKMB Involves Hundreds of Facilitators and Student Support Personnel
Prof. Dr. Devi Valeriani, M.Si., Chair of the 2026 UBB PKKMB Committee, reported that 2,905 new students had been admitted to UBB for the 2026/2027 academic year, of whom 2,849 participated in the PKKMB program.
“This year’s PKKMB is attended by 2,849 participants out of a total of 2,905 new UBB students. The program will run for five days, consisting of three days at the university level and two days at the faculty and study-program levels,” Devi said.
She explained that PKKMB 2026 is supported by 34 faculty facilitators and 126 student co-facilitators. The organizing team also includes 53 lecturers and education staff, along with 80 student support personnel.
These student support personnel will contribute to various activities, including performances by the marching band, talent showcases, and parades.
According to Devi, the two-level structure of PKKMB is designed to give new students a comprehensive understanding of campus life. At the university level, students are introduced to UBB’s campus environment, systems, services, and academic and student affairs. At the faculty and study-program levels, they receive more specific information about their academic environment and the disciplines they will pursue.
“The theme we have chosen is growing through knowledge, building character through values, and making an impact for the nation,” Devi said.
She explained that the theme serves as the foundation for PKKMB, emphasizing that university education is not solely about acquiring knowledge but also about developing character and cultivating an awareness of how knowledge can be used to benefit others.
Through PKKMB, new students are introduced to various aspects of campus life, including academic systems, student services, campus facilities, student organizations, and the academic values and culture practiced at UBB.
The program is expected to provide students with an initial understanding of their rights and responsibilities as members of the academic community, while introducing them to the various opportunities available for personal and professional development during their studies.
The spirit of “growing through knowledge” emphasizes the importance of learning and continuous self-development. “Building character through values” serves as a foundation for developing integrity, responsibility, and ethics. Meanwhile, “making an impact for the nation” encourages students to use the knowledge, experience, and competencies they acquire at UBB to benefit society and the environment.
The arrival of 2,905 new students represents an important part of UBB’s ongoing efforts to prepare human resources who possess not only academic competence, but also strong character, creativity, adaptability, and social awareness.
The UBB Rector encouraged the new students to make the most of their university years by learning diligently, developing their potential, actively participating in student activities, building networks, and preparing themselves for future challenges.

PKKMB 2026 marks the beginning of the academic journey of 2,905 new UBB students.
