EduAsiaNews, Jakarta — The Rector of Universitas Pembangunan Nasional “Veteran” Jakarta, Prof. Dr. Anter Venus, MA, Comm, emphasized the importance of a Sustainability Career Path for students in facing the increasingly rapid changes in the world of work. This message was delivered during the Socialization of Facilitation and Development for Prospective Workers in Green Jobs, held at UPNVJ on Wednesday, May 13, 2026. The event featured several speakers from government, industry, and professional associations to provide insights into career opportunities in the green economy era. The spelling of the Rector’s name refers to the official leadership page of UPNVJ.
This activity served as a learning space for students to understand that the future world of work not only demands academic excellence but also the ability to adapt, think critically, communicate, collaborate, and demonstrate concern for environmental sustainability. Technological changes, industrial transformation, and increasing global attention to sustainability issues have made green jobs increasingly relevant for university graduates.
In his remarks, the Rector of UPNVJ stated that the theme of a Sustainability Career Path reminds students that future careers are not solely about obtaining employment, but also about making real contributions to the sustainability of the planet and civilization.
“I hope this activity can provide insight, inspiration, and motivation for all participants in designing sustainable careers that are beneficial for society and the environment. Take advantage of this opportunity to learn and broaden your perspective on the world of work in the era of the green economy,” said Prof. Venus.
According to the Rector, higher education institutions have a strategic responsibility in preparing the younger generation to respond to the needs of the times. Students should not only be equipped with academic knowledge but also be made aware of the shifting orientation of the labor market, which increasingly places sustainability as an important competency.
The green economy era opens various new career opportunities that require innovative, creative young talent with social responsibility. The Ministry of Manpower has previously identified green jobs as part of the future direction of employment development, including in sectors such as renewable energy, energy efficiency, waste management, transportation, and sustainable agriculture.
The socialization event featured the Director of Manpower Placement Development at the Ministry of Manpower of the Republic of Indonesia, Isnarti Hasan, S.E., M.Si.; Manager of Competency Development at PT Bio Farma, Tina Andrilina, S.Psi., M.Psi., Psychologist; and Secretary General of the Association of Industrial and Organizational Psychology of Indonesia (APIO-HIMPSI), Dr. Ayu Dwi Nindyati, M.Si., Psychologist. Their presence enriched participants’ perspectives from the aspects of employment policy, industrial competency requirements, and the psychological readiness of prospective workers.
Through this activity, UPNVJ students are expected to recognize shifts in the labor market, understand the competencies required in the green jobs sector, and begin designing career paths aligned with their interests, abilities, and sustainability values. This understanding is essential so that university graduates do not merely become job seekers, but also agents of change who bring positive impact to society.
UPNVJ views the strengthening of knowledge regarding green jobs as being in line with the spirit of the Bela Negara (State Defense) Campus. In a contemporary context, the value of state defense is not only interpreted as service to the nation, but also as contribution to sustainable development, environmental awareness, and the readiness of the younger generation to face global challenges.
From an institutional perspective, Prof. Dr. Anter Venus reaffirmed that UPNVJ will continue to encourage the development of students’ capacities so they remain adaptive to changing times. Through activities such as this, UPNVJ strengthens its role as a university that is not only oriented toward academic achievement, but also toward preparing graduates who are ready to contribute to inclusive, sustainable, and impactful national development for society.(www.upnvj.ac.id)
