EduAsiaNews, Surabaya — The Doctoral Program (S-3) in Educational Technology (TP), Faculty of Education (FIP), Universitas Negeri Surabaya (Unesa), has been recorded as the highest recipient of the Beasiswa Pendidikan Indonesia (BPI) among Educational Technology doctoral programs in Indonesia.
Based on the latest data, a total of 49 doctoral students in Educational Technology at Unesa have received the BPI scholarship. The 2022 cohort contributed the highest number with 26 recipients, followed by 13 recipients in 2023, 8 in 2025, and 2 in 2024.
In addition to BPI, doctoral students in the program have also secured various other prestigious scholarships, including the LPDP Scholarship awarded to 7 students, the Ministry of Religious Affairs Doctoral Program Scholarship awarded to 6 students, and the Beasiswa Unggulan awarded to 1 student.
The Coordinator of the S-3 Educational Technology Program at Unesa, Prof. Dr. Mustaji, stated that this achievement is closely linked to the program’s “excellent” accreditation status, which serves as a key requirement for applying to various national scholarship schemes.
“The S-3 Educational Technology program at Unesa is among the first doctoral programs to achieve ‘excellent’ accreditation across the nine BAN-PT criteria. This serves as a strong foundation for the government’s trust in awarding scholarships,” he explained.
Furthermore, Mustaji noted that in academic management, the program emphasizes the creation of an independent learning ecosystem that adapts to developments in the digital era. Most students, who are lecturers and education practitioners, are considered to have a high level of autonomy, allowing the learning process to focus on strengthening research, collaboration, and innovation.
To enhance students’ competitiveness, the program is also actively building international partnerships through academic networks and collaborations at the global level, including with universities in Malaysia and Thailand.
Meanwhile, the Vice Rector for Education, Student Affairs, and Alumni of Unesa, Martadi, emphasized that this achievement reflects governmental recognition of the program’s quality.
He stated that the quality of the S-3 Educational Technology program at Unesa has been acknowledged by the ministry, as evidenced by increasing public trust and growing interest in pursuing studies at the university. According to him, this trust must be maintained through consistent learning quality and timely completion of studies.
He also stressed that scholarship recipients, particularly at the doctoral level, are expected to complete their studies within the निर्धारित timeframe to ensure the sustainability of scholarship programs.
