EduAsiaNews, Jakarta – Universitas Pembangunan Nasional “Veteran” Jakarta (UPNVJ) assigned ballot numbers to the four rectorial candidates for the 2026–2030 term through an open drawing conducted in a hybrid format on Tuesday (21 July 2026). Witnessed by members of the University Senate, the Rector Election Committee, and the university community, the event formed part of UPNVJ’s commitment to ensuring a transparent, fair, and accountable leadership transition. Following the ballot drawing, the candidates are scheduled to present their vision, mission, and work programs on Thursday, 30 July 2026.
Chair of the UPNVJ Rector Election Committee, Silvia Anggraeni, S.T., M.Sc., Ph.D., stated that the election process is conducted in accordance with UPNVJ Senate Regulation No. 2 of 2026 and Minister of Research, Technology, and Higher Education Regulation No. 19 of 2017 concerning the Appointment and Dismissal of Leaders of State Universities. The committee has also established the rules of procedure and the schedule for each stage of the election in line with the applicable regulations.
Ministerial Regulation No. 19 of 2017 serves as one of the principal legal frameworks governing the appointment and dismissal of leaders of Indonesia’s state universities.
Based on the administrative review, four of the six applicants were declared eligible to proceed to the next stage. The candidates come from several higher education institutions and possess extensive leadership experience and strong track records in university governance.
The ballot drawing produced the following order for the UPNVJ Rector Election 2026–2030:
Dr. Sakroni, S.ST., M.Pd. – Politeknik Kesejahteraan Sosial Bandung;
Prof. Dr. Drs. Anter Venus, M.A., Comm. – Universitas Pembangunan Nasional “Veteran” Jakarta;
Prof. Dr. Drs. Abdul Halim, S.H., M.Ag. – Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic University Jakarta;
Prof. Dr. Memen Kustiawan, S.E., M.Si., M.H., Ak., CA., CPA. – Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia.
Chair of the UPNVJ Senate, Dr. Irsyaf Marsal, S.H., M.H., emphasized that the ballot drawing represented more than an administrative procedure, reflecting the Senate’s commitment to implementing the principles of good university governance.
“The drawing of ballot numbers is not merely an administrative step. It reflects the commitment of the UPN Veteran Jakarta Senate to ensuring that the entire rector election process is conducted openly, fairly, transparently, and provides equal opportunities for all candidates,” Irsyaf said.
He expressed hope that every stage of the election would proceed smoothly and in accordance with the established regulations, ultimately producing the best leader for UPNVJ.
“We encourage all members of the university community to uphold the spirit of unity, maintain the highest standards of academic ethics, and respect every stage of the election process,” he added.
According to Irsyaf, differing preferences are a natural part of democratic processes within higher education institutions. Nevertheless, all members of the university share the same objective: selecting a leader capable of advancing UPNVJ into a more progressive, competitive, and impactful institution that contributes meaningfully to society, the nation, and the state.
Following the ballot drawing, the next stage of the election will be the presentation of the candidates’ vision, mission, and work programs, scheduled for Thursday, 30 July 2026, beginning at 8:00 a.m. WIB in the Bhinneka Tunggal Ika Auditorium, 4th Floor, UPNVJ Pondok Labu Campus.
The session will provide each candidate with an opportunity to present their strategic vision, priority programs, and development agenda for UPNVJ during the 2026–2030 leadership period. It will also enable the Senate and the university community to assess each candidate’s leadership capacity and the relevance of their proposed programs.
By conducting every stage of the election in an open, objective, and accountable manner, UPNVJ reaffirms its commitment to the principles of good university governance.
