EduAsiaNews, Semarang – The Badminton Association (PB) of Diponegoro University and Muhammadiyah University of Yogyakarta held a badminton match as part of an initiative to strengthen inter-university friendship. The event took place on Thursday, May 14, 2026, from 08:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. WIB at the Polytron Stadium UNDIP. This friendly match was initiated by Bambang Jatmiko, Chairman of the Badminton Association of UMY.
In his opening remarks, the Chairman of PB UNDIP, Jamari, emphasized that the essence of the event was not to seek victory, but to strengthen the friendship between UNDIP and UMY.
“We are not here to seek victory, but to build friendship,” said Prof. Jamari.
Echoing the same sentiment, Dyah Mutiarin, Vice Rector for Human Resources at UMY, also stated in her remarks that the purpose of the activity was to foster friendship between the two universities rather than competition.
“What Prof. Jamari said is absolutely correct — we are here to strengthen our friendship,” said Prof. Dyah.
She also expressed her appreciation for UNDIP’s badminton stadium, which she noted already meets international standards.
“UNDIP is truly remarkable for having stadium facilities that meet international standards. Hopefully, UMY can follow UNDIP’s example,” she remarked.
The match was participated in by members of the academic communities affiliated with both PB UNDIP and PB UMY. The event proceeded smoothly and was marked by a warm atmosphere of camaraderie among the academic communities of the two universities.
Looking ahead, PB UNDIP plans to intensify friendly matches with badminton associations from other universities in order to strengthen collaboration and foster a healthy and productive academic community in line with the vision of “UNDIP Bermartabat, UNDIP Bermanfaat.”
