EduAsiaNews, Surakarta — Universitas Lampung (Unila) secured two national awards at the APPeL Hijau Indonesia Awards 2026, held at Harris Hotel & Convention Solo in Surakarta on Friday, August 7, 2026.
The two awards comprised the Green Campus Award and the Green Library Award, presented to Unila’s Academic Support Unit (UPA) Library. Unila Rector Prof. Dr. Ir. Lusmeilia Afriani, D.E.A., IPM., ASEAN Eng., personally received the certificates and trophies during the 3rd Indonesia Green Literacy Conference (KLHI III).
KLHI III 2026 Organizing Committee Chair Ali Mutakim explained that Unila’s selection as an award recipient was based on a comprehensive and objective digital profiling process.
“The assessment was not based solely on implementation in the field. We conducted an in-depth profiling of official websites, media coverage, and the universities’ scientific publication records on Google Scholar. Unila has consistently performed above average in implementing and promoting green literacy and a sustainable campus ecosystem,” Ali Mutakim said before hundreds of delegates from universities across Indonesia and abroad.
Meanwhile, Rector of Universitas Musamus Dr. Ir. Daud Andang Pasalli, S.T., M.Eng., emphasized the important role of universities in responding to global challenges.
“In today’s quantum era, where global dynamics are increasingly interconnected, developing green literacy on campuses is crucial. Collaboration among academics from Sumatra to Papua is essential to support national strategic programs, particularly renewable energy resilience, food security, and human resource development toward a Golden Indonesia 2045,” Daud Andang said.
Responding to the two awards, Unila Rector Prof. Lusmeilia Afriani described the achievement as recognition of the university community’s measurable efforts to foster an environmentally responsible campus culture.
“The Green Campus and Green Library awards are not merely trophies. They represent recognition of Unila’s efforts to integrate environmental values into the three pillars of higher education, from curriculum and scientific research to facility management and green library services,” Prof. Lusmeilia said.
Regarding the conference, Prof. Lusmeilia emphasized that KLHI serves as a crucial platform for aligning ideas with practical implementation.
“The Indonesia Green Literacy Conference provides an important space for collaboration among universities. At Unila, green literacy does not stop at discussion forums but is translated directly into concrete actions, ranging from tree-planting programs for new students and campus energy efficiency to the digitalization of library services to reduce paper consumption,” the rector stressed.
The 3rd KLHI and APPeL Hijau Indonesia Awards 2026 were attended by leaders of public and private universities from across Indonesia, the East Indonesia State Universities Consortium, representatives of government ministries, and international delegates from Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Malaysia.
