The Prosecutorial Commission of the Republic of Indonesia Explores Cooperation with the University of Riau

EduAsiaNews, Riau – The University of Riau (Unri) welcomed a delegation from the Secretariat of the Prosecutorial Commission of the Republic of Indonesia for a preliminary meeting to explore potential collaboration. The meeting was held at the Kunto Darussalam Meeting Room, Rectorate Building, University of Riau, on Thursday (July 16, 2026).

The meeting marked the initial step toward establishing a strategic partnership between the University of Riau and the Prosecutorial Commission of the Republic of Indonesia, particularly in strengthening the implementation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education through education, research, community service, and the development of human resources in the fields of law and institutional governance.

Representing the University of Riau were Head of the Bureau of Planning, Cooperation, and Public Relations Armia, S.E., M.Ak.; Head of the Information, Cooperation, and Public Relations Team Tri Gunawan, S.Sos., M.A.P.; Head of the Cooperation Working Group M. Berlian Visco; Coordinator of the Master of Law Study Program Dr. David Rahmadan; and Head of the Department of Law Dr. Zulfikar Jayakusuma, S.H., M.H.

Meanwhile, the Secretariat of the Prosecutorial Commission of the Republic of Indonesia was represented by Fara Diah Winandari, Head of the Subdivision for Institutional and Public Relations; Janes Adek Ucok, Head of the Finance Subdivision; accompanied by Sonang Simanjuntak and Suwandi from the Riau High Prosecutor’s Office.

Armia, Head of the Bureau of Planning, Cooperation, and Public Relations at the University of Riau, stated that the initiative reflects the university’s commitment to continuously expanding its network of partnerships with strategic institutions.

“The University of Riau warmly welcomes this initiative to explore cooperation. We hope that the partnership will lead to programs that provide tangible benefits, both for institutional development and for enhancing the competencies of our students and faculty members, particularly in the fields of law and public governance,” he said.

Fara Diah Winandari, Head of the Subdivision for Institutional and Public Relations at the Secretariat of the Prosecutorial Commission of the Republic of Indonesia, emphasized that collaboration with higher education institutions plays an important role in strengthening institutional functions through academic activities and human resource capacity development.

“The Prosecutorial Commission is already familiar with the University of Riau, as we have previously established cooperation. We believe the University of Riau has significant potential to become a strategic partner. Moving forward, we hope to develop collaborative initiatives in the form of seminars, academic studies, joint research, and capacity-building programs that will benefit both institutions,” she said.

On the same occasion, Dr. Zulfikar Jayakusuma, S.H., M.H., Head of the Department of Law at the University of Riau, noted that collaboration with the Prosecutorial Commission would provide broader opportunities for the academic community to gain practical experience while strengthening the quality of legal education.

“We expect this partnership to facilitate various academic programs that address the needs of legal practice, including public lectures, collaborative research, student internship programs, and scholarly discussions on the development of law and Indonesia’s judicial system,” he explained.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the University of Riau and the Prosecutorial Commission agreed to follow up on the exploratory discussions by formulating a more concrete framework for cooperation through the preparation of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and collaborative programs that can be implemented in the near future.
