UPNVJ Serves as Co-Host of the BKS PTN Barat Journal Conference, Advancing International Journal Indexing

EduAsiaNews, Jakarta – Universitas Pembangunan Nasional “Veteran” Jakarta (UPNVJ), in collaboration with the University of Lampung, served as co-host of the 2026 BKS PTN Barat Journal Management Conference, held at the Rectorate Building of the University of Lampung on July 9–10, 2026. The event brought together journal managers from 39 state universities to strengthen the governance of scholarly publications and advance their progress toward international indexing.

The conference, themed “Strengthening the Governance of National Journals Toward International Indexing and Scientific Publication Collaboration within BKS PTN Barat,” was attended in person by representatives from 18 universities, while participants from the remaining institutions joined virtually. The conference was officially opened by the Rector of the University of Lampung, Prof. Dr. Ir. Lusmeilia Afriani, D.E.A., I.P.M.

The Chair of the Forum of Heads of Research and Community Service Institutions of BKS PTN Barat (FK LPPM BKS PTN Barat) and Head of UPNVJ’s Research and Community Service Institute (LPPM), Dr. Sri Lestari Wahyuningroem, M.A., Ph.D., stated that the conference marked the first forum specifically dedicated to bringing together journal managers from institutions within the BKS PTN Barat network.

“This forum is expected to strengthen collaboration among journal managers, ranging from the development of reviewer networks and institutional capacity building to the enhancement of human resource capabilities, enabling BKS PTN Barat journals to achieve international recognition,” Sri Lestari said.

The conference featured a number of distinguished speakers who discussed global publishing trends, national journal accreditation policies, academic integrity in the era of artificial intelligence, and strategies for elevating journals to SINTA 1 status and achieving international indexing. Participants also gained valuable insights into best practices in journal management from editors of internationally indexed journals at the University of Lampung.

The conference represents a strategic initiative by BKS PTN Barat to foster a professional, sustainable, and globally responsive scholarly publishing ecosystem. UPNVJ’s role as co-host underscores the university’s commitment to expanding research collaboration and enhancing the international competitiveness of Indonesia’s scientific publications.(www.upnvj.ac.id)
