
EduAsiaNews, Palangka Raya – The Rector of the University of Palangka Raya (UPR), Prof. Dr. Ir. Salampak, M.S., IPU., officially inaugurated the Computer-Based Written Examination (UTBK) for new student admissions through the 2026 Independent State University Entrance Selection (SMMPTN-Barat) organized by the Consortium of the Association of Western Indonesian State Universities (BKS PTN Barat). The opening ceremony, held at the UPR UTBK Building, was attended by the Vice Rectors, the Internal Supervisory Unit, Deans and Vice Deans for Academic Affairs, as well as heads of institutional units across the university.
In his opening remarks, Prof. Salampak, who also serves as Chair of BKS PTN Barat, stated that 27 state universities were serving as examination centers this year, with a total of 30,833 applicants participating nationwide. He noted that the figure had successfully met the consortium’s target of exceeding 30,000 participants. He encouraged all candidates to undertake the examination with honesty, discipline, and integrity while remaining calm and focused throughout the test. Prof. Salampak emphasized that the selection process is fair, transparent, and merit-based, ensuring an objective assessment of applicants’ competencies. He expressed hope that the examination would proceed smoothly and produce a new generation of high-quality university students.
Meanwhile, Dr. Natalina Asi, M.A., UPR Vice Rector for Academic Affairs and Chair of the Local Organizing Committee, reported that 1,381 candidates were registered to take the 2026 SMMPTN-Barat UTBK at the University of Palangka Raya testing center. Of these, 1,277 participants (92.47 percent) were applicants from Central Kalimantan Province. The examination was scheduled to take place over four days, from June 17 to June 20, 2026, comprising eight examination sessions conducted across eight testing rooms.
