
EduAsiaNews, Riau – Universitas Riau (Unri) has once again achieved national recognition by winning five awards at The 5th Indonesia DEI & ESG Awards (IDEAS) 2026, held as part of The 10th PR INDONESIA Awards on Thursday (July 9, 2026) at the Grand Ballroom of Ambhara Hotel, Jakarta.
The awards serve as national recognition of Unri’s consistent implementation of the principles of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) as well as Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) through institutional governance, public information transparency, strategic communication, and environmental sustainability initiatives.
At IDEAS 2026, Unri secured three Gold Awards and two Bronze Awards, including:
Gold Winner – ESG Individual Category: Awarded to Dr. Ir. Sofyan Husein Siregar, M.Phil. for his leadership as Head of Unri’s Information and Documentation Management Officer (PPID) in delivering transparent, accountable, and responsive public information services through information governance transformation and the development of the Smart PPID system.
Gold Winner – ESG Individual Category: Awarded to Prof. Dr. Alvi Furwanti Alwie, S.E., M.M. for the program “From Tree Bank to Trust: Planting Trees, Growing Trust, Building Reputation,” which promotes environmental conservation through the active participation of the university community and the broader public.
Gold Winner – ESG Department Category: Awarded to PPID Unri for its various innovations in strengthening public trust through enhanced information transparency, digital transformation, and increasingly transparent governance practices.
Bronze Winner – ESG Communication Program (Environmental) Category: Awarded for the program “Unri Green Ambassador: Exploring Biodiversity, Inspiring Action through Environmental Ambassadors,” which fosters environmental awareness through education, campaigns, and biodiversity conservation initiatives.
Bronze Winner – ESG Communication Program (Governance) Category: Awarded for the program “Unri Students as Drivers of Information Transparency through Impactful Community Service Programs in Rural Areas,” which positions students as agents of public information literacy and promotes transparent governance at the village level.
The awards were received directly by Unri Rector Prof. Dr. Sri Indarti, S.E., M.Si., accompanied by Vice Rector for Planning, Cooperation, and Information Systems and Head of PPID Unri, Dr. Ir. Sofyan Husein Siregar, M.Phil.
Speaking at the event, the Rector expressed appreciation for the achievement. According to her, the awards reflect the collective efforts of the entire academic community in developing innovations and best practices that deliver meaningful benefits to society.
“These awards reflect our consistency in implementing ESG principles across institutional governance, public communication, community empowerment, and environmental conservation, while also strengthening Unri’s reputation as a sustainable university that generates positive impact for society,” she stated.
