
EduAsiaNews, Nigeria – Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM) continues to strengthen its internationalization efforts through its participation in the 3rd Indonesia–Kano Expo 2026, organized by the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia (KBRI) in Abuja, Nigeria, from 2–4 July 2026 at the Afficent Event Centre, Kano. Held under the theme “Advancing Trade, Building Collaboration,” the event serves as a platform to foster closer ties between Indonesia and Nigeria, including in the field of higher education.
Representing the university at the event were ULM Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmad, S.E., M.Si., accompanied by Vice Rector for Cooperation, Public Relations, and Information Systems Dr. Ir. Yusuf Azis, M.Sc. They introduced Lambung Mangkurat University to the Nigerian public, particularly prospective students interested in pursuing higher education in Indonesia.
On the occasion, the ULM Rector emphasized that Lambung Mangkurat University welcomes students from Nigeria, especially those from Kano and its surrounding regions, to pursue their studies at ULM.
“Lambung Mangkurat University offers opportunities for the people of Nigeria, especially those from Kano, to continue their studies at Lambung Mangkurat University in Indonesia,” the Rector stated.
The Rector also highlighted opportunities for collaboration and business development in South Kalimantan, noting the similarities between the economic potential of South Kalimantan and Kano. He explained that South Kalimantan’s key strengths lie in the agriculture, palm oil, and coal mining sectors. These shared characteristics are expected to provide a solid foundation for mutually beneficial collaboration in education, research, innovation, and industrial development.
ULM’s participation in the Indonesia–Kano Expo 2026 followed an official invitation from the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Abuja, which encouraged Indonesian universities to take part in promoting Indonesian higher education. Through this event, ULM introduced a wide range of study opportunities available to the people of Kano, from undergraduate to postgraduate programs, while showcasing the university’s flagship academic offerings.
The university’s participation also reflects Lambung Mangkurat University’s strong commitment to expanding its international partnerships, enhancing its global competitiveness, and promoting the quality of Indonesian higher education to the international community, particularly in Kano, Nigeria. By creating greater access for international students to study at ULM, the university hopes to further strengthen academic relations between Indonesia and Nigeria, generating lasting benefits for both countries.
