EduAsiaNews, Surabaya – The series of intense competitions in the National Olympiad of Mathematics and Natural Sciences for Higher Education Institutions (ONMIPA-PT) has officially reached its culmination. Following rigorous intellectual challenges and analytical contests, this prestigious national-level event concluded with an award ceremony honoring the nation’s outstanding young scientists. The ceremony was held at Garuda Mukti Hall, MERR-C Campus of Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR), on Thursday (June 11, 2026).

Demonstrating Scientific Excellence

Director of Student Affairs at UNAIR, Dr. Eko Supeno, Drs., M.Si., expressed his pride in the perseverance demonstrated by participants from across Indonesia, from Sabang to Merauke, who remained committed throughout the competition until the final award ceremony. He emphasized that ONMIPA serves as a platform for students to demonstrate their true academic capabilities before society.

“Share your expertise with the world, so that people can experience the value of the training, guidance, examinations, competition, challenges, struggles, and friendships that have shaped you. You are the remarkable young generation of Indonesia,” he stated.

Dr. Eko further encouraged the finalists and winners not to view ONMIPA merely as a competition or in terms of the prizes awarded. According to him, ONMIPA represents something far greater—a platform for students to showcase their expertise and create meaningful contributions to society.

“We hope this competition is not viewed solely as a contest. As champions, you must create impact and deliver benefits. Your achievements should not be measured by the value of the awards, but by your capacity to contribute to this nation,” he emphasized.

Global Opportunities for Winners

Similarly, Dr. Beny Bandanadjaja, S.T., M.T., Director of Learning and Student Affairs (Belmawa) at the Directorate General of Higher Education, Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology, conveyed his appreciation to the finalists and medalists.

“I see that all of you here are champions who have gone through a long and demanding process. Continue proving yourselves and, one day, contribute to advancing science and knowledge even further,” he remarked.

Dr. Beny also acknowledged the opportunities available for ONMIPA medalists to obtain scholarships such as those offered by the Indonesian Endowment Fund for Education (LPDP). He expressed hope that these talented young scientists would pursue higher levels of education, both in Indonesia and abroad.

“Your achievements form part of your accomplishments and portfolio, and I am confident they will be valuable for your future. One way is by leveraging your ONMIPA achievements to continue your studies at higher levels and at even better institutions,” he said.
