EduAsiaNews, Pamekasan — Universitas Madura (UNIRA) successfully concluded its 48th Anniversary celebrations by organizing a Fun Bike event and free health screening services over the weekend. The large-scale event attracted remarkable enthusiasm, drawing no fewer than 2,500 participants, including members of the university community and residents of Pamekasan. The recreational cycling route, which passed through several of the city’s main streets, transformed the area into a vibrant gathering of people united in the spirit of sportsmanship and togetherness.

The highlight of the celebration became even more memorable with the presence of regional leaders during the official flag-off ceremony. The event was formally inaugurated by the Regional Secretary of Pamekasan Regency, Taufikurrahman, alongside the Rector of Universitas Madura and the Chairperson of the Pamekasan Regional House of Representatives (DPRD). The three leaders jointly waved the starting flag to officially launch the event.

In his remarks prior to the start, Taufikurrahman expressed his appreciation for the contributions of Pamekasan’s leading university.

“Fun bike activities are not only about sports but also serve as a form of recreation. Furthermore, UNIRA has produced many outstanding alumni who have contributed significantly to government institutions and various other sectors,” he stated before thousands of participants.

Behind the success of this large-scale sporting event, the 2026 UNIRA Fun Bike also received full support from the Indonesian Community Sports Committee (KORMI) of Pamekasan. This strategic collaboration between the university, local government, and KORMI reflects a concrete effort to promote sports and healthy lifestyles within the community. KORMI’s involvement ensured that the mass recreational sports event was not only festive but also safe, well-organized, and accessible to participants of all ages.

In addition to promoting physical activity, the anniversary celebration also emphasized community service, one of the core pillars of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education. Upon completing the cycling route, participants and local residents were provided with free health screening services, including blood pressure checks, blood glucose testing, and basic health consultations.

The event was further enlivened by the distribution of hundreds of attractive door prizes and the presence of a local MSME bazaar, which provided opportunities for small business owners in Pamekasan to showcase and market their products while contributing to the growth of the local economy.

As it enters its 48th year, UNIRA views the success of this event as a meaningful moment of reflection and celebration. Moving forward, the university remains committed to contributing to the advancement of education on Madura Island while nurturing a golden generation that excels not only academically but also demonstrates strong social awareness and a deep commitment to community health and well-being.
