EduAsiaNews, Jakarta – The Faculty of Computer Science (FIK) of Universitas Pembangunan Nasional “Veteran” Jakarta (UPNVJ) once again demonstrated its commitment to community service through the implementation of a pentahelix collaboration with the Serang Regency Office of Cooperatives, MSMEs, Industry and Trade, FORMKIMBA, Bank Syariah Indonesia (BSI) KCP Serang, and Kabar Banten media in the MSME Financial Digitalization Training held at the Office of Cooperatives, MSMEs, Industry and Trade of Serang Regency on Tuesday, May 6, 2026.

The strategic initiative marked a concrete collaboration among higher education institutions, government, industry, communities, and the media in promoting the digital transformation of the MSME sector to strengthen a more adaptive and competitive regional economy.

Through this training program, MSME actors were provided with guidance on digital-based financial management using modern bookkeeping applications to ensure that business record-keeping becomes more organized, effective, transparent, and professional.

The participation of the Faculty of Computer Science UPNVJ in the activity further reinforced the university’s position as a higher education institution that not only excels in technological development but also actively delivers practical digital innovation solutions to society.

In his remarks, the Dean of the Faculty of Computer Science of UPN “Veteran” Jakarta expressed appreciation for the establishment of the pentahelix collaboration among FIK UPNVJ, the regional government, industry, communities, and the media in supporting the development of MSMEs in Serang Regency.

According to him, cross-sector synergy is a crucial factor in accelerating digital-based community economic growth amid the current era of technological transformation.

“The pentahelix collaboration serves as a powerful force in building MSMEs that are more advanced, adaptive, and competitive. The Faculty of Computer Science UPNVJ is ready to provide further assistance and training, including the utilization of digital applications previously handed over to the Serang Regency Government to support MSME digitalization,” he stated.

He also emphasized that higher education institutions have a responsibility to deliver innovations capable of addressing the real needs of society, particularly in strengthening local economies through digital technology.

Meanwhile, the Secretary of the Serang Regency Office of Cooperatives, MSMEs, Industry and Trade expressed appreciation and gratitude to the Faculty of Computer Science UPNVJ for its tangible contribution through community service activities in Serang Regency.

According to him, the collaboration opens significant opportunities for MSME actors to improve their business capacity, particularly in digital-based financial management.

“One of the main challenges faced by MSME actors is the absence of a clear separation between personal and business finances. As a result, even when turnover increases, business profits are often not clearly visible. Through this financial digitalization training, MSME actors are expected to be able to carry out business record-keeping in a more organized and accurate manner,” he explained.

On the same occasion, the Branch Manager of Bank Syariah Indonesia (BSI) KCP Serang reaffirmed BSI’s support for strengthening MSMEs through the pentahelix collaboration with the Faculty of Computer Science UPNVJ.

BSI introduced various modern financial services that support MSME digital transformation, ranging from access to People’s Business Credit (KUR) financing and QRIS digital transaction services to Soundbox features that facilitate faster and more practical business transactions.

“BSI shares the same vision as academic institutions and the government in supporting community economic empowerment, particularly the MSME sector, so that it can grow sustainably,” he stated.

The training activity was conducted interactively and received enthusiastic participation from MSME actors in Serang Regency, who actively engaged in discussions regarding digital financial management strategies, modern business bookkeeping, and the utilization of technology for business development.

This pentahelix collaboration demonstrates that digital transformation is not merely a technological issue, but also an essential component in building community economic independence through the strengthening of digital and financial literacy.

Through this activity, the Faculty of Computer Science of UPN “Veteran” Jakarta once again demonstrated its active role as a university that builds strategic collaborations and delivers tangible impacts to society.

Strengthening the university’s role in technology-based MSME empowerment further reinforces the reputation of FIK UPNVJ as an innovative, adaptive, and nationally relevant faculty in the digital era.(www.upnvj.ac.id)
