EduAsiaNews, Jakarta – Universitas Pembangunan Nasional “Veteran” Jakarta (UPNVJ) has strengthened the follow-up to its strategic partnership with Nusantara One through a subsequent meeting held at the Rector’s Office of UPNVJ on Wednesday, May 6, 2026. The meeting focused on accelerating the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the Nusantara Impactful Research and Innovation Program, which is aimed at generating impactful research collaborations, innovations, and publications to support sustainable development in Indonesia.

The meeting was attended by the Rector of UPNVJ, Anter Venus, accompanied by Acim Heri Iswanto, along with Charles Bonar Sirait, Founding Chairman of Nusantara One.

The collaboration between UPNVJ and Nusantara One is formalized in MoU No. 002/NUSANTARAONE-03/2026 and 30/UN61/KS.00.00/2026, dated February 16, 2026. This partnership focuses on advancing research and innovation that support sustainable development, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and the Net Zero Emissions 2060 agenda.

Prior to this follow-up meeting, both parties had established intensive communication through a series of official correspondences, including a letter from the Rector of UPNVJ (No. 612/UN61/TU/2026, dated January 26, 2026) and a positive response (No. 1020/UN61/TU/2026, dated February 18, 2026). Cross-sector support has also begun to emerge, including an invitation for discussion from BPH Migas regarding the strengthening of the program.

During the meeting, UPNVJ and Nusantara One agreed on several strategic steps. Key priority agendas include accelerating the signing of a Cooperation Agreement before August 17, 2026, establishing a Program Working Group no later than May 10, 2026, and developing a national publication strategy to commence in August 2026 in collaboration with various national media outlets.

UPNVJ will also prepare institutional and resource support to ensure the sustainability of the program. This includes establishing a joint secretariat, strengthening the implementation team, and developing operational mechanisms to enable the program to run independently starting in May 2026.

The Program Working Group will play an active role in building partnerships with ministries, government agencies, the private sector, research communities, and other strategic stakeholders. Through this collaborative approach, the Nusantara Impactful Research and Innovation Program is expected not only to produce academic ideas but also to contribute tangible solutions to national challenges.

The Rector of UPNVJ, Prof. Dr. Anter Venus, stated that this collaboration represents an important step in strengthening the role of higher education institutions as drivers of national innovation.
“UPNVJ warmly welcomes and is fully committed to sustaining this collaboration with Nusantara One. The Nusantara Impactful Research and Innovation Program marks an important momentum to deliver research that is not only academically उत्कृष्ट but also provides real impact for society and national development. We will ensure that all follow-up actions, including the establishment of the working group and the strengthening of cross-sector collaboration, are carried out in a timely and well-directed manner,” he stated.

He also emphasized the importance of synergy with the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology as the supervising institution in supporting the sustainable implementation of the program. According to him, university research must be increasingly aligned with national needs, enhance competitiveness, and deliver direct benefits to society.

Meanwhile, Dr. Charles Bonar Sirait reaffirmed Nusantara One’s readiness to further strengthen collaboration with UPNVJ. He noted that this partnership opens opportunities for the emergence of various strategic initiatives with broad impact, particularly in encouraging youth engagement and strengthening the national innovation ecosystem.

As a next step, follow-up meetings will be conducted regularly. The Working Group coordination agenda is scheduled to begin no later than May 20, 2026, to refine the implementation strategy, clarify roles, and prepare the program’s action plan.

Nusantara One is an initiative founded by Dr. Charles Bonar Sirait as a cross-sector collaboration platform. It focuses on raising youth awareness on sustainable development issues, clean energy, climate change, education, and technology-based innovation.

With the vision “Empowering Indonesia to a Sustainable Future,” Nusantara One is committed to becoming a catalyst for the creation of an inclusive, sustainable, and impactful innovation ecosystem for Indonesia’s future.(www.upnvj.ac.id)
