EduAsiaNewes, Jakarta — Universitas Pembangunan Nasional “Veteran” Jakarta (UPNVJ) has reaffirmed State Defense Literacy as one of the key components of the 2026 UPNVJ Independent Admission Selection (SEMA UPNVJ). The State Defense Literacy examination was conducted on Thursday, June 25, 2026, in an online format for general applicants and in person exclusively for candidates applying to the Undergraduate Medical Program. Through this approach, UPNVJ seeks not only to assess prospective students’ academic readiness but also to instill a strong sense of national awareness from the moment they enter the university.
Speaking to UPNVJ Public Relations, UPNVJ Rector Prof. Dr. Anter Venus, M.A., Comm. stated that State Defense Literacy constitutes an essential element of the admission process, reflecting the university’s commitment to ensuring that prospective students possess values aligned with UPNVJ’s institutional identity.
“By incorporating the State Defense Literacy examination into our admission process, we expect every student who joins the UPNVJ community to embrace State Defense as part of their identity from the very beginning—even as first-year students,” he said.
According to the Rector, the examination is designed not merely as an administrative requirement but as a comprehensive assessment tool to evaluate applicants’ understanding of national affairs and civic responsibility.
He emphasized that such understanding is essential to ensuring that UPNVJ graduates excel not only academically but also demonstrate a strong commitment to serving society, the nation, and the state.
“This examination is intentionally designed as a rigorous filter to help our students develop a broad understanding of national affairs, enabling them to apply their knowledge for the greater benefit of the nation,” he added.
This year’s State Defense Literacy examination was administered through both online and offline formats. The face-to-face examination was conducted exclusively for applicants to the Undergraduate Medical Program as part of UPNVJ’s commitment to ensuring that future medical students possess not only strong academic capabilities but also exemplary character and a solid understanding of national values.
Prof. Anter further emphasized that UPNVJ aspires to produce future physicians who demonstrate not only medical competence but also social sensitivity and a strong commitment to public service. In this context, State Defense Literacy serves as an important foundation, encouraging prospective students to recognize that professional expertise and scientific knowledge should ultimately contribute to humanitarian causes and national development.
Looking ahead to the next four years, when the 2026 SEMA UPNVJ cohort completes their studies, the Rector expressed his hope that they will emerge as a generation of transformative leaders. He emphasized that the State Defense identity should extend beyond being merely an institutional slogan and instead become a guiding principle reflected in students’ attitudes, ways of thinking, and meaningful contributions to society.
“I hope they will proudly uphold the State Defense identity as an integral part of UPNVJ’s identity. I also hope they will apply their critical knowledge to create meaningful contributions for our nation and its people,” said Prof. Anter Venus.
UPNVJ regards State Defense Literacy as a strategic distinguishing feature of its student admission process. Through this initiative, the university seeks to cultivate an academic ecosystem that prioritizes not only intellectual excellence but also character development, integrity, social responsibility, and national commitment.
With the completion of the 2026 SEMA UPNVJ State Defense Literacy examination, Prof. Anter expressed confidence that the selection process marks the beginning of nurturing students who are critical thinkers, adaptable, and firmly grounded in character. For UPNVJ, the success of higher education is measured not only by its ability to produce competent graduates but also by the tangible contributions they make as individuals who embody the values of State Defense in serving the wider community.
