EduAsiaNews, Jakarta — The inauguration and oath-taking of the Senate members of Universitas Pembangunan Nasional “Veteran” Jakarta (UPNVJ) for the 2026–2030 period marked an important moment, not only signifying the start of a new term but also serving as a tribute to the leadership of the previous period. The ceremony, held at Nusantara 1 Room, UPNVJ, on Thursday, April 2, 2026, saw UPNVJ Rector Prof. Dr. Anter Venus, M.A., Comm., symbolically bid farewell to the 2022–2026 Senate Chair, Prof. Dr. dr. Basuki Supartono, Sp.OT, FICS, MARS. This gesture represented the institution’s appreciation for the dedication and contributions of the Senate leadership in strengthening university governance.
In his remarks, the Rector emphasized that the ceremonial event was intentionally designed to give deeper meaning to the leadership transition within the Senate. He stated that leadership change is not merely an administrative process, but also an opportunity to honor the work, dedication, and institutional legacy established by the previous leadership.
“This is not merely a change in administration, but also a form of appreciation for the dedication of the 2022–2026 Senate, which has left a positive legacy for the university,” Prof. Anter Venus remarked.
The Rector also highlighted that the previous Senate had executed numerous strategic agendas with significant challenges. Amidst the continuously evolving institutional dynamics, the Senate was able to perform its functions effectively in overseeing academic policies and supporting institutional strengthening. Therefore, leadership transition should be viewed as part of governance continuity, not simply a personnel change.
Meanwhile, Prof. Dr. dr. Basuki Supartono, Sp.OT, FICS, MARS., in his final reflections, noted that during his tenure since April 2023, the UPNVJ Academic Senate consistently worked to uphold academic policies based on the principles of objectivity, transparency, and accountability. He emphasized that fulfilling institutional duties during the term would not have been possible without the support of the entire academic community.
According to Basuki, the successful execution of the Senate’s functions is the result of collaborative effort. Support from university leadership, Senate members, faculty, and administrative staff was a crucial factor that allowed various institutional agendas to be carried out effectively while remaining aligned with the university’s interests.
The farewell ceremony simultaneously marked the conclusion of the previous leadership term and opened a new chapter for the UPNVJ Senate members for 2026–2030. This milestone reflects the university’s commitment to maintaining institutional continuity while strengthening academic traditions that honor the contributions of officeholders in each period.
From a university leadership perspective, this transition is part of efforts to reinforce UPNVJ’s governance to be excellent, accountable, and competitive. The Rector emphasized that the continuity of the Senate’s role is essential to ensure that academic policies remain aligned with the institution’s vision and capable of addressing the challenges of higher education development in the future.(www.upnvj.ac.id)
