Unud and China Establish Collaboration in Agriculture

EduAsiaNews, Denpasar — Udayana University (Unud) hosted a delegation from the Guangdong Academy of Agricultural Sciences (GDAAS), China, at the Agrocomplex Building on the Denpasar Campus on Wednesday (June 10, 2026). The visit was aimed at exploring agricultural collaboration between the Faculty of Agriculture of Udayana University and the Institute of Facility Agriculture of GDAAS. The partnership was formally marked by the signing of a cooperation agreement between the two institutions.

Representing the Rector of Udayana University, the Vice Rector for Student Affairs, Prof. Dr. Gusti Ngurah Alit Susanta Wirya, S.P., M.Agr., stated that the meeting represented an important step toward establishing a strategic partnership, particularly in addressing pressing global agricultural challenges, including climate change, food security, sustainable resource management, and the growing need for innovative agricultural technologies.

The Vice Rector further emphasized that collaboration with GDAAS offers both institutions an opportunity to integrate technological innovation with local agricultural knowledge, thereby generating solutions that are both scientifically robust and socially relevant. Moreover, the partnership serves as a means of strengthening academic diplomacy between Indonesia and China and fostering closer ties between the two nations through education and research.

The Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, I Putu Sudiarta, S.P., M.Sc., Ph.D., expressed his appreciation for the opportunity to collaborate with Chinese researchers. He conveyed his hope that the partnership would evolve into a broader collaboration capable of generating innovative initiatives that integrate the agricultural and tourism sectors.

According to the Dean, both agriculture and tourism possess significant development potential in Bali, and he is optimistic that this collaboration will contribute to the creation of new innovations that support the advancement of both sectors.

The delegation from the Institute of Facility Agriculture, Guangdong Academy of Agricultural Sciences, China, included Mr. Zhang Changyuan, Mr. Shi Liangliang, and other staff members. Representatives from Udayana University in attendance included the Dean and staff of the Faculty of Agriculture, the Director of the Tourism Confucius Institute (TCI), the Head of the Faculty of Agriculture Experimental Garden, and lecturers from the Faculty of Agriculture.
