
EduAsiaNews, Palu – Tadulako University (UNTAD) continues to strengthen its international presence through its participation in the League of Tropical Universities (LTU) Summit 2026, held at Hainan University, China, from 18–21 May 2026. The summit brought together representatives from more than 100 universities and institutions across tropical regions worldwide.
During the opening session, the Governor of Central Sulawesi, Dr. H. Anwar Hafid, M.Si., introduced a range of regional development initiatives, including the Berani Cerdas Program, which aims to improve access to and the quality of education for local communities. On the sidelines of the event, the Governor also met with the Governor of Hainan Province and the President of Hainan University to discuss opportunities for collaboration in education, research, technology, and human resource development.
The UNTAD delegation, led by Rector Prof. Dr. Ir. Amar ST., MT., IPU., ASEAN Eng., and Vice Rector for Planning and Cooperation Dr.sc.agr. Aiyen, M.Sc., further expanded the university’s international partnerships. One of the key outcomes was the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with Hainan University to establish the Tropical Aquaculture Science and Technology Demonstration Center (TASTDC) at Tadulako University.
This collaboration is expected to support the advancement of research and innovation in tropical aquaculture in Central Sulawesi. The initiative was also attended and supported by the Governor of Central Sulawesi.
On the same occasion, Dr. Aiyen Tjoa served as a speaker at an international forum on the sustainable tropical palm oil industry, where she showcased Indonesia’s research achievements to the global academic community.
UNTAD’s participation in the LTU Summit 2026 further reinforces its position as one of the leading universities in Eastern Indonesia, actively contributing to education, research, and sustainable development across tropical regions.
