EduAsiaNews, Jakarta — Universitas Negeri Jakarta (UNJ), through its Institute for Educational Development and Learning (BP3), held an Indonesian language class for students participating in the 11th batch of the SEA Teacher program from Capitol University in the Philippines on Tuesday (Oct. 13, 2026). The session was led by Etsa Purbarani and aimed to introduce participants to Indonesian language and culture while equipping them with basic communication skills for everyday interactions.

One of the topics covered was “Introductions and Personal Identity,” taught through a session titled “Hi! Let’s Get to Know Each Other!” Participants learned basic Indonesian expressions for greeting others, introducing themselves, and asking for and sharing simple personal information. To reinforce their understanding, they took part in interactive exercises, including reading texts, answering questions based on provided information, preparing and practicing introductory dialogues with classmates, and introducing popular figures from their respective countries.

In addition to the language class, the program began with a website development workshop using the Weebly platform, led by Mutia Delina, on Monday (Oct. 12, 2026). The workshop introduced participants to the use of digital technology to create and manage websites as platforms for information sharing and publication. These skills are expected to strengthen participants’ digital competencies, particularly in education and communication.

Mutia Delina explained that website development skills could help students foster creativity and make effective use of digital media in academic activities.

“Through the Weebly workshop, participants were introduced to practical ways to create and manage websites. These skills are expected to help them share information, document learning activities and develop useful digital media for education,” she said.

Combining Indonesian language learning with website development training is part of an effort to enrich the learning experiences of international students. Both activities provide opportunities not only to improve language proficiency but also to develop practical skills relevant to learning in the digital era.

Through the SEA Teacher program, UNJ’s BP3 continues to promote the exchange of knowledge, experiences and cultures among students and educational institutions across Southeast Asia. The initiative is expected to strengthen international academic ties, foster cross-cultural understanding and encourage the use of technology to support education.
