
EduAsiaNews, Bebandem – The Communication Studies Program of Udayana University carried out its Assisted Village Community Service Program through the “Ikom Unud for Bebandem 2026” initiative, held at the Bebandem Village Head Office, Karangasem Regency. The event featured a series of activities, ranging from visits to micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), a cybercrime awareness session, to MSME digitalization efforts, aimed at improving the community’s digital literacy while optimizing the potential of local MSME operators in facing the developments of the digital era.
The event was attended by Member of the Regional Representative Council of the Republic of Indonesia (DPD RI) for Bali Province, I Komang Merta Jiwa, S.E., representatives from Bank BPD Bali and PT Permodalan Nasional Madani, Bebandem Village officials, MSME operators, members of the local community, lecturers, and students of the Communication Studies Program at Udayana University.
The event opened with remarks from the Coordinator of the Communication Studies Program at Udayana University, I Dewa Ayu Sugiarica Joni, S.Sos., M.A., who underscored the importance of collaboration between higher education institutions and the community in developing the various potentials held by Bebandem Village, including in the tourism sector, natural resources, and MSMEs.
On this occasion, DPD RI Member for Bali Province, I Komang Merta Jiwa, S.E., also delivered remarks on the importance of synergy among various parties in supporting MSME development and community empowerment in villages. He further affirmed his commitment to continue building collaboration with Udayana University to support the development of MSME potential in Bebandem Village. “Going forward, the DPD RI, together with Udayana University, particularly its Communication Studies Program, will continue to collaborate in efforts to enhance the potential of MSMEs in Bebandem Village,” said I Komang Merta Jiwa.
As part of the series of activities, the Communication Studies Program of Udayana University, together with the DPD RI Member for Bali Province, Bank BPD Bali, and PT Permodalan Nasional Madani (PNM), conducted direct visits to two MSMEs in Bebandem Village: Puspa Sari MSME, which produces materials for Hindu ceremonial offerings, and Minyak Tandusan MSME, which produces traditional coconut oil and various processed products. These visits served as a platform for dialogue between stakeholders and MSME operators to observe the production process firsthand, identify the business challenges faced, and explore opportunities for sustainable development and mentorship.
Participants then received further education through a Cybercrime Awareness Session and MSME Digitalization session, featuring I Made Danu Winartha, S.Kom., from the Karangasem Regency Communication and Informatics Office, as well as Dr. Gede Indra Raditya Martha, S.TI., M.Kom., an entrepreneur and digital practitioner. During the session, participants gained an understanding of digital security, cybercrime threats, and the use of digital technology to support MSME development.
Through the “Ikom Unud for Bebandem 2026” Assisted Village Community Service Program, the Communication Studies Program of Udayana University hopes to continue strengthening collaboration with various parties in support of community empowerment, MSME development, and improved digital literacy in Bebandem Village.

We chose Bebandem Village because it holds great potential for continued growth.
