EduAsiaNews, Ciputat – The Doctoral Program (PhD) in Islamic Banking at the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB), UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, has officially solidified its position as a leading center for Islamic economics education in Indonesia. This recognition is marked by the prestigious “Excellent” Accreditation granted by the Independent Accreditation Agency for Economics, Management, Business, and Accounting (LAMEMBA), based on Decree No. 1157/DE/A.5/AR.10/V/2024 issued on May 21, 2024. This achievement signifies that the institution’s academic standards have surpassed national benchmarks and are now poised to compete at the international level.

In line with this distinguished accomplishment, the program has undertaken a strategic transformation by adopting the new designation: Doctoral Program in Islamic Banking and Finance. This change in nomenclature reflects a proactive response to the dynamic evolution of the industry. Graduates are now expected to possess a significantly broader range of expertise—not only in banking but also in Islamic fintech, capital markets, and global Islamic philanthropic governance (Ziswaf).

“This ‘Excellent’ Accreditation represents our commitment to producing policymakers and researchers who are not only theoretically proficient but also visionary in addressing the increasingly digital challenges of global Islamic finance,” stated Prof. Ibnu Qizam, Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business, UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta.

The program’s “Excellent” quality is supported by a robust academic ecosystem. FEB UIN Jakarta is currently strengthened by a distinguished cohort of senior scholars and practitioners whose research profiles have been published in reputable international journals indexed by Scopus. Furthermore, the program maintains strategic partnerships with international institutions and domestic regulatory authorities.

The impact of its graduates is also recognized by industry practitioners. Ahmad K. Permana, an Islamic banking expert and industry practitioner, emphasized the relevance of this transformation.

“The current industry demands professionals who understand the integration between conventional and Islamic banking with technology. UIN Jakarta’s initiative to expand into a Doctoral Program in Islamic Banking and Finance provides significantly broader career opportunities for its graduates, both within regulatory bodies such as the Financial Services Authority (OJK) and across the digital economy ecosystem,” he explained.

For professionals, academics, and researchers aspiring to become part of this center of excellence, FEB UIN Jakarta has opened admissions for the Odd Semester of the 2026/2027 academic year.
