EduAsiaNews, Purwokerto – A clean environment is not created through slogans, but through habits that are cultivated and practiced collectively. This spirit served as the foundation for the Faculty of Law of Universitas Jenderal Soedirman (FH Unsoed) in commemorating World Environment Day 2026 through a campus clean-up campaign involving the entire academic community, including students, lecturers, and administrative staff.

The activity, held across the FH Unsoed campus, was not only a demonstration of concern for campus cleanliness but also an educational initiative aimed at instilling social and environmental responsibility among all members of the university community.

Dean of FH Unsoed, Prof. Dr. Riris Ardhanariswari, S.H., M.H., emphasized that higher education institutions play a strategic role in shaping environmentally conscious young generations committed to sustainability.

“Universities are not only responsible for producing academically accomplished graduates but also for nurturing individuals with strong social and environmental responsibility. Environmental awareness is an integral part of character education. Therefore, World Environment Day should not be viewed merely as a symbolic occasion, but as a collective movement that fosters positive habits,” she stated.

In addition to the campus clean-up campaign, the event also served as an opportunity to strengthen collaboration between the academic sector and external partners. FH Unsoed partnered with Sapphire Group, which provided support in the form of segregated waste bins designated for organic, inorganic, and hazardous waste (B3).

The provision of these facilities represents a concrete step toward promoting more responsible waste management while raising awareness among the academic community about the importance of waste segregation at the source.

Dr. Siti Kunarti, S.H., M.H., Vice Dean for Student Affairs, Alumni Relations, and Cooperation at FH Unsoed, stated that lasting environmental behavioral change requires both a strong culture and adequate supporting facilities.

“Environmental awareness must be cultivated continuously. The provision of segregated waste bins is one simple yet important effort to establish new habits that are more environmentally responsible. We hope this initiative will become part of the daily culture at FH Unsoed,” she said.
