
EduAsiaNews, Thailand – As Chulalongkorn University has issued an additional announcement dated 26 June 2026 concerning public holidays for the year 2026, designating Friday, 16 October 2026, as a special holiday for personnel working at University offices located within Bangkok, in accordance with the Cabinet resolution of 19 May 2026 declaring Friday, 16 October 2026, a special public holiday in Bangkok.
This measure aims to alleviate traffic congestion and facilitate travel for participants attending the meetings, as well as to ensure that the security arrangements and safety measures implemented by the Ministry of Finance and the Governor of the Bank of Thailand, who represents the member countries, are carried out smoothly and with maximum efficiency during the 2026 Annual Meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank Group. Pursuant to Sections 27 and 32 of the Chulalongkorn University Act, 2008, the President hereby issues the following guidelines for the conduct of classes, student activities, and staff work arrangements on 12, 14, and 15 October 2026:
1. All University units shall conduct classes for students and arrange for staff to perform their duties at their regular workplaces as usual.
2. In cases where a Vice President, Dean, or Director of a University unit determines that commuting to conduct classes, organize student activities, or perform staff duties at the regular workplace, as specified in Clause 1, may affect the aforementioned meetings, the following arrangements may be considered:
(1) Classes may be conducted online or in a hybrid format. Any changes to the mode of instruction must be communicated to students in advance.
(2) Staff under the respective unit may be permitted to work from home (WFH), as necessary and appropriate to the nature of their duties.
3. Vice Presidents, Deans, and Directors of University units shall supervise, oversee, and manage the work arrangements of staff under their respective authority, including monitoring their performance to ensure that duties are carried out appropriately and efficiently, without adversely affecting the University’s services and ope
