EduAsiaNews, Jakarta – Universitas Pembangunan Nasional “Veteran” Jakarta (UPNVJ) conducted an online trial test for the State Defense Literacy Examination as part of its 2026 Independent Selection (SEMA) on Wednesday (17/6/2026).
A total of 8,176 participants took part in the trial to ensure the readiness of the application, devices, verification mechanisms, and coordination between participants and proctors ahead of the actual examination scheduled for 25 June 2026. The trial forms part of UPNVJ’s preparations to serve approximately 9,003 SEMA participants in an orderly, secure, and accountable manner.
The Vice Rector for Academic Affairs of UPNVJ, who also chairs the New Student Admissions Committee (Penmaru), Dr. Henry Binsar Hamonangan Sitorus, S.T., M.T., stated that supervision must be carried out to the fullest extent, as the potential for violations in online-based examinations still needs to be anticipated. “The potential for cheating still exists. That is why we must maintain strict supervision. I hope all proctors on duty can perform to their utmost so that various forms of cheating and obstacles that arise can be minimized,” said Henry while briefing the proctors.
He noted that experience from previous years of conducting the independent selection serves as valuable capital for all officers to carry out their duties professionally. Although the activity has become a routine agenda, every proctor is still required to uphold integrity and ensure that all stages of the examination proceed in accordance with the established regulations. “This is a routine activity carried out every year. I believe we can all give our best and remain responsible for the mandate entrusted to us through to the implementation of the State Defense Literacy Examination on 25 June,” he said.
A total of 171 proctors have been assigned to supervise participants online. The supervision and coordination process is managed from four rooms: CBT Room A and CBT Room B on the third floor of the MERCe Building, a room at the Faculty of Health Sciences on the second floor, and a room at the Faculty of Engineering on the third floor. Meanwhile, 20 proctors have been assigned to oversee the offline implementation of the State Defense Literacy Examination, using 10 rooms at the UPNVJ Pondok Labu Campus.
The offline implementation is designated for participants applying to the Undergraduate Medicine Study Program. Participants in this group will receive briefing and undergo a readiness test on the day of the examination.
The Executive Coordinator of UPNVJ’s Penmaru, Fajar Nugroho, explained that the trial test is focused on ensuring participants can log into the examination application and understand all the stages they must go through. Early-stage checks are considered important so that major technical issues do not resurface on the day of the examination. “All participants are given the opportunity to test their access to the examination application before the day of the actual test. We hope that on examination day there will be no further major issues, so that participants can proceed directly with the selection process,” said Fajar.
In carrying out their duties, proctors are required to ensure that participants have joined the designated WhatsApp group. If any participants have not yet joined the group, proctors may check the participant recap and the latest contact information, then confirm with the participant once they are in the Zoom room. Proctors must also ensure that participants enter their username and password correctly, have downloaded or printed their examination participant card, and are using the Secure Exam Browser (SEB) application obtained from UPNVJ’s official channels. Participants experiencing installation issues are directed to consult the provided guidelines and contact the help desk listed on their examination card.
In addition to testing the login process, participants were introduced to the verification stages, menus, and various features within the examination application. They were also reminded to arrive on time, present their examination documents, and prepare a laptop or computer to complete the questions as well as a mobile phone to join the Zoom session.
Participants who are unable to take part in the trial test for valid reasons may still be granted leniency, provided they have successfully logged into the examination application. Such information must be communicated directly to the proctor on duty. Participants who withdraw must be recorded in the BAPU (Examination Implementation Minutes), while participants who need to leave the trial test early may be permitted to do so once it has been confirmed that they successfully logged into the application.
Through this trial test, UPNVJ seeks to ensure the integrated readiness of participants, officers, information technology systems, and supervisory facilities. Under the leadership of UPNVJ Rector Prof. Dr. Anter Venus, MA, Comm, the strengthening of new student admissions governance continues to be directed toward maintaining a selection process that is objective, transparent, secure, and accountable.(www.upnvj.ac.id)
