EduAsiaNews, Cibubur – Universitas Negeri Jakarta (UNJ) continues to reinforce its commitment to delivering a high-quality, accountable, and integrity-driven student admission system through the activity titled “Enhancement of Performance Assessment Instruments for the UNJ Achievement-Based PENMABA Admission Path 2026,” held on 5–6 June 2026 at Avenzel Hotel and Convention, Cibubur.

Organized by the Office of the Vice Rector for Academic Affairs, Student Affairs, and Alumni, the event represents a strategic initiative to refine the assessment instruments used in the Achievement-Based New Student Admission Program (PENMABA). Through this enhancement process, UNJ aims to ensure that the selection procedure remains objective, transparent, measurable, and capable of identifying high-achieving prospective students who possess outstanding competencies and potential aligned with their fields of expertise and achievements.

This effort has become increasingly important given that the 2026 Achievement-Based PENMABA selection process took place from 13 May to 31 May 2026, with the results scheduled to be announced on 19 June 2026. Consequently, the refinement of assessment instruments constitutes a crucial component in maintaining the quality and credibility of the selection process conducted by UNJ.

The event was attended by developers of performance assessment instruments from various achievement fields, rubric developers responsible for performance quantification, academic staff, and the Secretary of the UNJ Public Relations and Public Information Office. Over the two-day program, participants evaluated, adjusted, and refined the instruments in response to developments in higher education policies, evolving student achievement trends, and the needs of academic programs within UNJ.

The Vice Rector for Academic Affairs, Student Affairs, and Alumni, who is also Acting Rector of UNJ, Prof. Ifan Iskandar, emphasized that the achievement-based admission pathway serves as a vital mechanism for providing access to higher education for outstanding students with proven records of academic and non-academic excellence.

According to him, the quality of selection instruments is a key factor in ensuring a fair admission process while enabling the university to identify and recruit talented individuals from across Indonesia.

“The enhancement of these performance assessment instruments reflects UNJ’s commitment to continuously improving the quality of academic services, beginning from the student admission stage. We want to ensure that every prospective student admitted through the achievement-based pathway genuinely possesses the competencies, potential, and track record relevant to their chosen field. Therefore, the instruments employed must be continually updated to remain relevant, objective, and adaptive to changing times,” said Prof. Ifan.

Prof. Ifan further noted that the Achievement-Based PENMABA pathway is one of UNJ’s strategic admission routes in supporting the university’s vision of becoming an excellent, inclusive, and globally competitive institution. Through a credible selection mechanism, UNJ seeks to provide equal opportunities for high-achieving students to develop their potential within a high-quality academic environment.

Meanwhile, Agung Premono, Director of Academic Affairs at UNJ, emphasized in his opening remarks the importance of maintaining consistent assessment standards throughout the selection process. According to him, a well-designed instrument should not only accurately measure applicants’ achievements but also serve as a reliable and accountable basis for decision-making.

“This activity serves as an important opportunity to align perspectives while strengthening the quality of the instruments used in the selection process. With increasingly valid and reliable instruments, we can ensure that the selection process is conducted professionally and is capable of identifying the best prospective students in accordance with the characteristics of their intended study programs,” he stated.

In addition to serving as an evaluation forum, the event also provided a collaborative platform for instrument developers to share experiences, discuss best practices, and formulate assessment standards that are more comprehensive and adaptive to the evolving achievements of students at both national and international levels.

The enhanced instruments produced through this initiative are expected to improve the validity, reliability, and effectiveness of the Achievement-Based PENMABA selection process in the years ahead. In turn, this will enable UNJ to maintain the quality of its student intake as a critical foundation for producing graduates who are excellent, well-rounded, and capable of contributing to national development.

Through this initiative, UNJ once again reaffirms its commitment to building a high-quality, integrity-based selection system focused on the development of outstanding talent as part of its broader efforts to advance quality higher education with global competitiveness.
