A total of 99 students were declared graduates, comprising 13 graduates from the DIII Business Management program, 47 from the S1 Management program, and 44 from the S1 Accounting program.
The farewell event marked an important milestone, symbolizing the conclusion of students’ academic journey and the beginning of their steps into the professional world and community service. The ceremony was conducted solemnly and attended by all prospective graduates from various study programs within the Faculty of Economics at USM.
In his speech, the Dean of the Faculty of Economics, Dr. Edy Suryawadana, SE, MM, emphasized that today’s graduates face significant challenges amid the rapid advancement of technology and the digital era. He highlighted that technological progress should serve as a supportive tool rather than a replacement for the fundamental values that shape human quality. “Technology can take over many roles, but it will never replace integrity, empathy, and character,” he asserted.
The event was also attended by the Vice Dean of the Faculty of Economics, Dr. Adijati Utaminingsih, SE, MM, program leaders, faculty members, heads of the Management and Accounting laboratories, as well as the students’ parents and families. The presence of university leaders and academic staff reflected full support for the prospective graduates who have completed their studies.
Dr. Edy further noted that graduates of the Faculty of Economics should not rely solely on academic knowledge or technical skills. According to him, ethical conduct, social responsibility, and the ability to adapt to changes in the workforce are key assets for remaining competitive and relevant in the global arena.
Meanwhile, student representative Marcellino Valent Gusna shared his impressions and experiences during his time at the Faculty of Economics. He encouraged all graduates to continue developing themselves, to keep learning, and to contribute positively to their surroundings. “Let us be graduates of the Faculty of Economics who are adaptive, possess integrity, and can make meaningful contributions to society,” he said.
The farewell activities concluded with a joint prayer and a social gathering, expressing gratitude for the academic achievements attained by the prospective graduates.
