EduAsiaNews, Jakarta – Students of the International Relations Study Program, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP), Universitas Pembangunan Nasional “Veteran” Jakarta (UPNVJ), Novia Kusuma Wardhani and Khansa Khairunnisa, delivered a book literacy presentation titled “Educating Children in the Digital Era” as part of their internship program at the Agency for National Unity and Politics (Kesbangpol) of the South Jakarta Administrative City.
The activity took place on Thursday, January 22, 2026, with facilitation from the Forum for National Integration (Forum Pembauran Kebangsaan/FPK), as a form of students’ academic contribution in supporting public education on parenting challenges in the technological era.
The presentation highlighted the dynamics of the digital revolution in children’s education, while also strengthening the implementation of practice-based learning for students. The session was later uploaded to the Kesbangpol YouTube channel, allowing broader public access.
One of the students, Novia Kusuma Wardhani, stated that the activity was a valuable experience in applying academic knowledge gained during her studies. “Through this literacy presentation, we learned how to transform academic insights into material that is easily understood by the public, while also realizing the importance of digital literacy as a cross-generational issue,” she said.
Meanwhile, Khansa Khairunnisa emphasized that the internship program provided students with opportunities to contribute meaningfully to society. “This activity represents a form of practice-based learning that strengthens our analytical skills, communication abilities, and social awareness, particularly regarding education and parenting issues in the digital era,” she explained.
Both students demonstrated a comprehensive understanding of the book’s content, including the benefits of digital technology, distinctions between digital natives and digital immigrants, and the characteristics of generations growing up amid rapid technological advancement. They systematically outlined potential risks in the digital space, such as the need for continuous literacy development and active parental guidance.
The presentation also covered strategies for introducing the digital world according to children’s developmental stages, ranging from ages 1–3 to 12–18, with a strong emphasis on the role of parents in shaping adaptive parenting patterns. The activity reflected the students’ productivity during their internship, as they not only developed applied educational materials but also delivered them in a communicative and educational manner.
As a form of appreciation, the students received certificates of recognition, presented directly by the Head of the Kesbangpol Agency of the South Jakarta Administrative City at the end of the internship period. The certificates acknowledged their dedication and collaboration in supporting institutional activities, including the dissemination of knowledge through digital platforms.
This initiative stands as evidence of the active engagement of UPNVJ International Relations students in addressing contemporary social issues, such as digital literacy, in line with the study program’s curriculum, which emphasizes global analysis and local application.(www.upnvj.ac.id)
