
EduAsiaNews, Jakarta – Rector of Universitas Pembangunan Nasional Veteran Jakarta (UPNVJ), Prof. Dr. Anter Venus, MA, Comm, officially inaugurated the Chairperson of the Student Consultative Assembly (MPM), the Chairperson of the Student Executive Board (BEM), and 29 Chairpersons of University-Level Student Activity Units (UKM) for the 2026 term. The inauguration ceremony took place at the Bhinneka Tunggal Ika Auditorium, 4th Floor, UPNVJ Campus, on Wednesday morning, January 21, 2026, as part of the Student Affairs Division’s work program under the Administration and Cooperation Bureau (AKK). The event aims to strengthen student organizations (ormawa) to create tangible impact through synergy, collaboration, and the promotion of national defense values, in accordance with higher education regulations.
This inauguration refers to Law No. 12 of 2012, Article 14, which mandates universities to foster co-curricular and extracurricular activities to develop students’ interests, talents, and reasoning skills. In addition, UPNVJ Rector Regulation No. 10 of 2020, Article 12 Paragraph 2 and Article 20 Paragraph 3, stipulates that the rector is responsible for inaugurating BEM and UKM chairpersons following official appointment through a rector’s decree. The event was attended by vice rectors, deans, vice deans, bureau heads, institution heads, advisors, and the student affairs team, reflecting a collective commitment to support student activities.
In his address, Prof. Anter Venus emphasized that the inauguration marks the starting point for the new management to carry out their mandate and responsibilities in accordance with the duties and authorities of each student organization, as regulated by UPNVJ. “The 2026 program activities of student organizations and UKMs must deliver tangible impact, foster synergy, and collaborate in achieving achievements while prioritizing national defense values,” he stated. He also mandated that the management participate in the Student Leadership and Management Training (PKMM), scheduled for February 2026, to enhance their leadership capacity.
In closing, Prof. Anter Venus stated that this policy reflects UPNVJ’s commitment to nurturing resilient and patriotic students. “With this inauguration, we are optimistic that UPNVJ student organizations will increasingly contribute positively to society, in line with the university’s vision as a center for national defense education,” he said, reaffirming the rectorate’s commitment to support every innovative and impactful student initiative.(www.upnvj.ac.id)
