- Results from three Cambridge International AS Level subjects are now considered equivalent to the Cambodian Upper Secondary School Certificate and may be used as proof of graduation and progression to higher education.
- Each Cambridge International A Level subject is recognized as equivalent to the completion of the first year of an undergraduate degree program in Cambodia.
- Higher education institutions in Cambodia may admit holders of Cambridge International qualifications, provided they meet the applicable literacy and numeracy requirements.
H.E. Dominic Williams, British Ambassador to Cambodia, stated:
“Cambridge delivers a world-class curriculum used in more than 10,000 schools across over 160 countries. I am delighted that an increasing number of Cambodian parents and students are choosing Cambridge AS and A Levels to develop their potential and seize global opportunities, including pathways to leading universities overseas.
I am grateful for the support of Deputy Prime Minister Hang Chuon Naron in recognizing AS and A Levels within Cambodia’s national education system. This equivalency makes it easier for Cambridge students to access top study opportunities in Cambodia and provides official recognition of their hard work and achievements. The Cambridge curriculum will continue to open doors across Cambodia, particularly for young people in provinces beyond Phnom Penh.”
Kanjna Paranthaman, Regional Director for Southeast Asia & the Pacific, International Division, Cambridge, commented:
“This recognition represents a major development for students in Cambodia and a significant milestone for Southeast Asia. Cambridge is committed to supporting every learner in developing the knowledge and skills needed in a rapidly changing world. This agreement provides a more direct pathway from the Cambridge classroom to universities in Cambodia. We greatly appreciate the leadership and partnership of Cambodia’s Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport.”
This development underscores Cambodia’s commitment to future readiness and aligns with broader regional trends, as more governments recognize credible international education qualifications to support learner mobility, quality, and continuity of education.
