EduAsiaNews, Jakarta — The beginning of the year always offers a moment to pause. At the Bhinneka Tunggal Ika Auditorium, Universitas Pembangunan Nasional Veteran Jakarta (UPNVJ) used the occasion to stop briefly, look back, and then look ahead. On Friday morning, January 2, 2026, the UPNVJ academic community gathered for a New Year gathering and fellowship—serving as a forum for reflection as well as for realigning future directions.

The event, attended by representatives of staff work units, was more than an annual ceremony. It marked the close of the 2025 performance record and the start of new targets for 2026. Remarks from university leaders were interspersed with open dialogue, providing space for lecturers and education staff to voice their views and expectations. It was there that a sense of togetherness was tested—and strengthened.

Vice Rector for Planning, General Affairs, and Finance, Prof. Dr. Ir. Netti Herawati, M.Si., opened the event on an optimistic note. She described last year’s achievements as a foundation rather than a finish line. “May 2025 serve as our stepping stone to move forward better in 2026. We must remain strong and move together in facing whatever lies ahead,” she said.

UPNVJ Rector Prof. Dr. Anter Venus, M.A., Comm., then outlined a number of strategic achievements attained by the university throughout 2025. These included the Informative designation for the Information and Documentation Management Officer (PPID), two Silver Medals at the Higher Education Public Relations Awards, and a second-place ranking in the Main Performance Indicators within the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology—competing against 32 state universities operating under the public service agency scheme.

The achievements went beyond administrative performance. UPNVJ also recorded the addition of leading study programs and initiated the UPNVJ Community Territory (UCT), a collaborative space for corporate social responsibility activities. In the health services sector, the university is preparing to build a teaching hospital in Pasar Kemis, Tangerang, on a 7.2-hectare site.

For Anter Venus, however, achievements are no reason for complacency. He cautioned that future challenges will not be easy: shifting performance indicators, growing demands for adaptive governance, and the transformation of the campus toward sustainability. “Moments like this are important so that we can plan collectively,” he said.

Toward the close of the event, an open dialogue session marked the final segment. Staff aspirations were noted for follow-up—an effort to ensure that university policies remain grounded in real needs. At the start of 2026, UPNVJ appears keen to affirm one thing: achievements are not attained alone, but through collective effort. (*).(www.upnvj.ac.id)
