EduAsiaNews, Jakarta — Universitas Pembangunan Nasional Veteran Jakarta (UPNVJ) held a mass blood donation event as the closing activity of its 48th Dies Natalis celebration on 30 November 2025. The event took place at the Merce Building, Limo Campus, Depok, and was organized in collaboration with the Student Activity Unit (UKM) of the Indonesian Red Cross Volunteer Corps (KSR PMI) and the South Tangerang Indonesian Red Cross (PMI Tangsel). More than 60 people registered online, with a target of reaching 100 participants throughout the day to support the national blood supply.
Arga Buntara, the Person in Charge (PIC) of the Blood Donation event, delivered remarks emphasizing the importance of ongoing collaboration. “UPNVJ has been working with PMI Tangsel for two consecutive years,” he said. He expressed hopes that the event would run smoothly, adhere to procedures, and remain safe and comfortable for all involved—especially the donors. He also hoped that this activity would strengthen the relationship between the campus and the community, while inspiring young people to make meaningful contributions.
The blood donation process began with registration, during which donors were required to fill out an informed consent form with their personal data. This was followed by data validation to ensure the accuracy and completeness of their identity. The initial screening included blood pressure checks, hemoglobin levels, blood type, and a simple physical examination by medical staff. The process concluded with blood collection, conducted after donors washed their arms with soap to maintain sterility.
This activity reflects UPNVJ’s commitment to the values of national service as a veteran-based university, with a strong focus on social responsibility. Inter-agency collaboration enhances the impact of such initiatives, especially amid the high demand for blood supplies in the Jabodetabek area. PMI data shows that regular blood donation can save lives while also offering health benefits for donors through free medical screening. (*)
