EduAsiaNews, Jakarta – The Faculty of Social and Political Sciences at Universitas Pembangunan Nasional “Veteran” Jakarta (FISIP UPNVJ) organized an international seminar titled “Ambassador and Expert Talk: The Middle East Conflict and the Future of the Multipolar World” on Wednesday, April 16, 2026. The event brought together ambassadors and experts to discuss the dynamics of the Middle East conflict, shifts in global geopolitics, and their implications for the future of an increasingly multipolar world order. The seminar also featured H.E. Mohammad Boroujerdi, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Indonesia, as one of the keynote speakers.
The organization of this seminar was driven by rising global tensions that are affecting regional stability and international relations. In this context, FISIP UPNVJ considers it essential to provide an academic forum that brings together diplomatic perspectives and scholarly analysis in order to better understand the direction of global change in a clearer, more critical, and balanced manner.
Through this forum, participants were invited to discuss several strategic issues, including developments in conflicts involving Iran, the potential shift from a unipolar world order toward a multipolar one, and the implications for international relations across various regions. The seminar also highlighted how geopolitical changes may influence the foreign policies of developing countries, including Indonesia, amid an increasingly complex global landscape.
In addition to addressing conflict dynamics, the seminar served as a platform to examine challenges in global governance, regional security, energy, and international trade. The strategic position of the Middle East in global energy routes means that any escalation of conflict in the region has far-reaching effects on the global economy. In recent weeks, the conflict that began on February 28, 2026, has indeed triggered significant disruptions to energy supply and maritime security around the Strait of Hormuz.
From an academic perspective, the seminar also reaffirmed FISIP UPNVJ’s commitment to continuously hosting international forums that are relevant to current global issues. Such initiatives are expected to broaden the perspectives of students, faculty members, and the public on contemporary international relations, while strengthening the role of the university as a space for the exchange of ideas grounded in knowledge, diplomacy, and the pursuit of global peace.
For UPN “Veteran” Jakarta, this international seminar also represents an effort to strengthen academic and diplomatic networks at the global level. Amid rapidly evolving geopolitical changes, higher education institutions play an important role in fostering critical thinking, enriching public discourse, and contributing intellectual insights for an objective and responsible understanding of international issues.(www.upnvj.ac.id)
