EduAsiaNews, Jakarta — Another achievement has been recorded by a student of Universitas Pembangunan Nasional “Veteran” Jakarta (UPNVJ). Aliyah Diva Aryanto, a student in the Communication Studies Program at the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP), won first place as Mpok Pinilih and was also named Mpok Kreatif at the 2026 Abang-Mpok Depok competition.
The achievement has provided Aliyah with an opportunity to apply the communication and creative skills she has developed through her studies. In her role as Mpok Depok, she hopes to help promote the potential of Depok while building closer communication with the community.
In an interview on Thursday (Oct. 1, 2026), Aliyah expressed her gratitude for the achievement. She said her success would not have been possible without the support of various parties who accompanied and encouraged her throughout the 2026 Abang-Mpok Depok selection process.
“I am very grateful for this achievement. Being named first-place winner as Mpok Pinilih and Mpok Kreatif at Abang-Mpok Depok 2026 has been a very meaningful experience for me. Of course, this achievement would not have been possible without the support of my family, friends, university and everyone who has given me encouragement and placed their trust in me,” Aliyah said.
For Aliyah, the titles mark not the end of a competition but the beginning of a new responsibility to continue learning and making relevant contributions to society, particularly by promoting the diverse potential of Depok.
“I hope that after receiving these titles, I will not stop at this personal achievement. I want to continue learning, developing my creativity and contributing to the promotion of Depok’s potential, particularly through communication and positive creative works that can benefit the community,” she said.
Communication Studies as a Foundation for Contribution
As a Communication Studies student at UPNVJ, Aliyah views communication as more than simply a skill for delivering messages. For her, communication also plays a role in building relationships, understanding community needs and presenting regional potential in an engaging and relevant way.
“For me, communication is not only about how we deliver messages but also about how we can build relationships, listen to the community and present regional potential in a creative and relevant way. I want to apply the knowledge I have gained at university through my role in Abang-Mpok Depok,” she said.
The combination of academic knowledge and public-facing experience has provided Aliyah with a foundation for carrying out her role. Her Mpok Kreatif title also gives her greater opportunities to develop communication ideas and creative works that can support the promotion of Depok’s potential.
Aliyah’s achievement adds to the growing list of UPNVJ student accomplishments beyond the academic sphere. Participation in various competitions also provides students with opportunities to develop their communication skills, creativity, leadership and social awareness.
