EduAsiaNews, Jakarta — UPNVJ Senate Chair Dr. Irsyaf Marsal, M.H., emphasized that the drawing of candidate numbers for the 2026–2030 UPNVJ rector election was a precautionary step to ensure that the election process proceeds according to schedule and avoids potential time constraints.

Irsyaf made the statement during the drawing of candidate numbers for the 2026–2030 UPNVJ Rector Election, which was held in a hybrid format at the Nusantara 1 Meeting Room on Tuesday (Oct. 6, 2026).

According to Irsyaf, the UPNVJ rector election has now entered the election stage after previously going through the nomination and screening stages. However, several subsequent activities are still awaiting coordination with the ministry.

“We have reached the rector election stage after the nomination and screening stages. There had previously been plans for interviews with the rector candidates by the ministry. Those interviews have yet to take place, and we are still waiting for confirmation of when the rector candidate election will be held,” Irsyaf said.

He emphasized that UPNVJ continues to coordinate with the relevant ministry regarding the implementation of the subsequent stages. Amid the ongoing process, the Senate and Rector Election Committee considered it necessary to conduct the candidate number draw first as a precautionary measure in light of the limited time available.

“The drawing of candidate numbers is indeed necessary. We were concerned that the timing would be too close to the election, considering that the rector election process will conclude on Oct. 24. We are taking precautions by conducting the drawing first,” he explained.

Irsyaf stressed that conducting the candidate number draw ahead of the subsequent stages did not mean that UPNVJ was disregarding the established mechanism. Instead, each stage continues to be carried out in compliance with procedures and through coordination with the ministry.

“We will also report this process to the ministry to ensure that we do not violate any procedures and continue to follow the established rules. We must remain committed and consistent in this regard,” he said.

Regarding the appointment of the UPNVJ Rector for the 2026–2030 term, Irsyaf explained that UPNVJ was still awaiting further processes and a decision from the ministry in accordance with its authority.

“There may be many questions about when the UPNVJ rector will be appointed. That falls under the ministry’s authority, so we will wait,” he said.

He expressed hope that all stages of the UPNVJ Rector Election would proceed smoothly and result in leadership capable of further advancing the university.

“Hopefully, through this rector election, the best leader can be selected from among the candidates, all of whom are fundamentally qualified,” Irsyaf concluded.

The candidate number draw marks one of the stages leading to the next phase of the 2026–2030 UPNVJ Rector Election. UPNVJ will continue coordinating with the ministry to ensure that the entire process is carried out in accordance with applicable regulations and procedures.(www.upnvj.ac.id)
