
EduAsiaNews, Jakarta — Universitas Pembangunan Nasional “Veteran” Jakarta (UPNVJ) conducted the appointment and oath-taking of Senate members for the 2026–2030 period on Thursday, April 2, 2026, at Nusantara 1 Room. This event marked the commencement of the term for 34 new Senate members who will play a strategic role in university academic policy-making. The ceremony also included the signing of an official record as formal ratification and as part of the institution’s efforts to strengthen accountable and integrity-based higher education governance.
UPNVJ Rector Prof. Dr. Anter Venus, M.A., Comm., emphasized that the oath-taking ceremony represents an institutional step in building a stronger and more structured academic tradition. He stated that the full names of the Senate members would be read aloud by the acting Chair presiding over the inaugural session.
“Previously, the beginning and end of the Senate’s term were conducted in a simple manner. Now, we are initiating a special ceremony to mark the start of the new mandate for Senate members. This is a good tradition and also a form of appreciation for the contributions of the 2022–2026 Senate,” he said.
Furthermore, the Rector expressed appreciation for the dedication and performance of the previous Senate, which successfully oversaw various strategic university agendas. He highlighted that the Senate’s role is crucial in ensuring that academic policy directions remain objective, transparent, and accountable.
“Many strategic and complex tasks have been carried out, all handled effectively. We express our gratitude for the service, contributions, and positive legacy that have strengthened the institution,” he added.
Prof. Dr. dr. Basuki Supartono, Sp.OT, FICS, MARS, Chair of the 2022–2026 Senate, reflected on his tenure since April 3, 2023. He noted that under his leadership, the Academic Senate actively oversaw academic policies, safeguarded institutional integrity, and ensured the application of objective and accountable academic principles.
He also extended his appreciation to the Rector, the university leadership, Senate members, and the wider academic community for their support during his term.
“We sincerely thank everyone for the good cooperation. If there were any mistakes while fulfilling our mandate, we apologize,” he stated.
This ceremony is expected to mark the beginning of strengthening the Senate’s role as a strategic body within university governance. In line with UPNVJ’s vision, the 2026–2030 Senate is anticipated to enhance academic quality, reinforce transparent governance, and support the acceleration of UPNVJ’s transformation into a globally competitive and excellent higher education institution, as emphasized by the Rector in various strategic institutional policies.(www.upnvj.ac.id)
